Experiment 6.

3: factors afffecting air

pressure.
Aim: to show that air pressure increases
when the volume of the air decreases.

Procedure:
1. the outlet of the syringe was closed
with finger.
2. the piston was slowly pushed down
as far as possible
3. when the piston could not bepushed
down any further, the finger was
removed slowly from the outlet.

OBSERVATION:
1. When the piston was pushed down,
the air inside the syringe pushed
against the piston. At one point, the
piston was unable to go down any
further.

2. when the finger was removed slowly,

air rushed out of the outlet and the
piston was pushed to the botom of the
syringe.

Discussion:
1. the air pressure which pressed
upwards on the piston increase when
the volume of air decreased.

Conclusion:
Air pressure in a close container
increases when its volume decreases.
