Summary

QuickMark for WebCam is a 2-D barcode application that


enables you to scan, decode, and access 2-D barcode
information with your webcam. Sounds like fun? You bet it
is! This document provides the basic information for you to
get going.

Installation

System Requirements
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher), Netscape 7.1
(or 8.0), Firefox 1.0, or Mozilla 1.7
256MB of RAM (512MB recommended)
Up to 3 MB of available hard-disk space
Microsoft's WDM compatible Web Cam, at least 0.1m/pixels
resolution

Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1: Locate and execute the downloaded QuickMark program
setup file

Step 2: Follow the instructions provided by the Installation

Launching QuickMark

During the QuickMark installation process, a shortcut will


be created on your desktop. Simply double-click on the
short-cut icon to launch QuickMark.

Alternatively, you may locate and launch the QuickMark


executable file at C:\Program\Files\QuickMark (default
installation directory).

Viewfinder
The viewfinder displays the video input from your webcam.
When multiple webcams are detected on your system, QuickMark
will ask you to select the preferred webcam.

Click the [Play] button once you have made your selection
to launch the viewfinder and you are ready to start scanning
2-D barcodes!

QuickMark currently provides mirror and zoom


functionalities for your scanning pleasure. Adjusting the
zoom level is a piece of cake, simply left-click on the

viewfinder to zoom in and right-click to zoom out.

QuickMark viewfinder modes

Default Mirror

Zoom Mirror + Zoom

Play / Pause

Click [Play] to start the video streaming and [Pause] to stop.

Horizontal Mirror

Click the [Horizontal Mirror] button to toggle your mirror


settings.

Minimize

Clicking the [Minimize] button will hide QuickMark to the


Windows task bar.

Exit

Click [Exit] to close the QuickMark program.

Result Dialog

Whenever QuickMark detects a valid barcode, it will


automatically decode and parse the barcode information. The
results will then be displayed in a new pop-up window.
Click on the desired action and then press 【OK】to initiate
the action. Using the following screenshot as an example,
clicking 【OK】after selecting 【URL】will redirect the user
to a specified webpage. (This function is made available
since v3_2r2147)

Supported Barcodes

QuickMark currently supports QuickMark, QR Code, and


DataMatrix. The application currently supports the
following service types: web URL, Email, phone number, SMS
message, address book contacts, geo coordinates, bookmarks,
and simple text.

Web URL

Redirects to URL with default browser

Email

Creates new email with default email client

Phone Number

Performs call with SkypeOut

SMS Message

Sends SMS with SkypeOut (Since v3_2r2045)

Saves contact to Outlook

Geo Coordinates

Redirects to UrMap / Google Maps with default browser

Bookmark

Adds bookmark to Internet Explorer

Text

Displays as text message
