HOLD A PRE-JOB SAFETY MEETING

DO NOT PLACE HANDS BETWEEN BOLLARD AND MOORING LINE

STAY CLEAR OF MOORING ROPE WHILE UNDER TENSION

3. PROCEDURES
1. RADIO OPERATOR INFORMS BARGE CAPTAIN AND DECK MANDORE UPON
ARRIVAL OF SUPPLY VESSEL AT THE LOCATION.
NOTE: WHEN VESSEL GIVES ETA AT PELAUT, RADIO OPERATOR
INFORMS VESSEL THAT IT MUST SEEK PERMISSION TO APPROACH
THE RIG, AS PER THE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

2. ESTABLISH RADIO CONTACT BETWEEN TENDER AND SUPPLY VESSEL ON


CHANNEL 6.

3. BARGE CAPTAIN INSTRUCTS THE BOAT TO APPROACH STERN TO, PORT


OR STARBOARD SIDE.

4. ROUSTABOUTS STAND BY TO TRANSFER MOORING ROPES TO THE VESSEL


VIA THE CRANE. RADIO CONTACT MUST BE ESTABLISHED WITH VESSEL
AT ALL TIMES.

NOTE: BOAT MUST BE PROPERLY MOORED BEFORE ATTEMPTING


TO TAKE OFF ANY LIFTS.

5. WHEN BOAT IS READY TO DEPART BOAT CREW ATTACH MOORING LINE TO


THE CRANE FOR TRANSFER BACK TO PELAUT.

6. ONCE A VESSEL IS MOORED TO PELAUT SAFETY BARRIERS MUST BE


CLOSED ON EITHER SIDE OF BITS AND MUST NOT BE CROSSED BY
ANYONE.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
THE BOAT CAPTAINS MUST NOTIFY PELAUT RADIO ROOM AT LEAST 30 MINUTES
PRIOR TO ETA ON LOCATION.

UPON ARRIVAL OF VESSEL ON LOCATION RADIO OPERATOR WILL INSTRUCT THE


CAPTAIN TO STAND OFF AT LEAST 500 METERS FROM THE TENDER AND STAND

BARGE ENGINEER OR WATCHSTANDER MUST THEN ESTABLISH RADIO CONTACT


WITH THE VESSEL.

BARGE ENGINEER AND BOAT CAPTAIN WILL DISCUSS AND ASSESS THE WEATHER
AND SEA CONDITIONS (ESPECIALLY CURRENT STRENGTH) TO DETERMINE IF IT
IS SAFE TO APPROACH THE RIG AND MOOR THE VESSEL.

IF WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE ONLY THEN CAN MOORING


PROCEDURES BE CARRIED OUT. IF WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE UNACCEPTABLE
THE VESSEL WILL STANDBY UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO APPROACH THE RIG.

SNATCH LIFTS WILL REMAIN A RESTRICTED OPERATION, AND SHOULD NOT


COMPROMISE THE SAFETY OF THE VESSEL, TENDER OR VESSEL CREWS.

DECISION OF BARGE ENGINEER AND VESSEL MASTER WILL BE FINAL.

VESSEL MOVEMENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IF CRITICAL OPERATIONS ARE IN


PROGRESS SUCH AS ACIDIZING.

RADIO OPERATOR MUST BE IN THE RADIO ROOM DURING ANY MOVEMENT OF


VESSELS. IF THE RADIO ROOM IS MANNED BY A RELIEF WHILE RADIO OPERATOR
IS ON HIS MEAL BREAK THEN NO CRAFT MOVEMENT WILL TAKE PLACE UNTIL
RADIO OPERATOR IS IN THE RADIO ROOM AND FULLY BRIEFED ON PRESENT
STATUS OF OPERATIONS.

THE ABOVE PROCEDURES MUST BE STRICTLY OBSERVED TO ELIMINATE ANY


POTENTIAL MISHAPS OR MISUNDERSTANDINGS THAT MAY OCCUR DUE TO LACK
OF COMMUNICATION OR INCORRECT JUDGEMENT OF WEATHER CONDITIONS.
