ACOUSTIC TREATMENT
1. GENERAL
1.1 Contract Documents
1.1.1 All Work of this Section shall comply with the requirements of the Contract
Documents for the Main Building Works, with the Drawings, Schedules and with
all other Contract Documents.
1.2 Work Included
1.2.1 All labour, materials, tools, equipment, appliances and services required to supply,
deliver and install acoustic spray and related work, complete as shown on
Drawings, as specified herein, and/or as required by job conditions, including, but
not limited to, the following:
a) Meeting Rooms
b) Guest Rooms
c) Rooms and Locations as specified in the Accoustic Consultant’s
Specification
1.3 Quality Assurance
1.31 Installation shall be performed by operatives who have not less than three years
of successful experience in installation of acoustic spray systems on projects.
1.3.2 Requirement of Regulatory Agencies:
Codes and regulations of local Authorities shall govern all Work of this Section.
1.3.3 The Manufacturer will provide test certification for the acoustic spray as required
to meet performance standards specified.
1.3.4 Indemnity
a) Upon Completion, the Contractor shall provide to the Employer a 5-year
indemnity, for the acoustic spray works, against failure of the coating,
fungus or biological growth, uneven fading, peeling and cracking.
b) If, in the opinion of the Contractor, the foregoing Specifications are
insufficient for him to provide the indemnity, then he shall allow in his
tender for upgrading the Specifications as necessary to enable him to
indemnify.
1.3.5 Refer to Section 01 02 10 Reference Standards to comply with the requirements
of the referenced standards

1.4 Submittals
1.4.1 Shop Drawings:
a) Submit shop drawings showing construction details, suspension and/or
hanging details for any special construction, support details.
1.4.2 Samples :
a) Submit three (3) samples of each type of material specified herein;
300mm x 300mm or 300mm long, or in manufacturer's container, as
applicable for type of material submitted.
1.4.3 Manufacturer's Literature :
a) Submit printed specifications and installation details for each type of fire
protection specified herein, shown on the Drawings and/or required by
Local Authorities.
1.5 Performance Criteria
1.5.1 Acoustic Spray
a) The spray shall be of cellulose spray similar to K13 or approved
equivalent.
b) The method of spraying shall be fully based on the manufacturer's
specification and applied by authorised applicator. The cellulose material
must be evenly mixed with the glue. The receiving surfaces must be clean
and dry without any stains from any oil or chemical.
c) The colour shall be selected subject to the Architect's choice.
d) It must be non-combustible and shall meet Class 1 flame spread rating
based on ASTM or BS Standards.
e) The minimum thickness shall be 50mm and yields the following acoustic
minimum absorption property :

2. PRODUCTS
2.1 Delivery, Storage and Handling
2.1.1 Deliver, store and handle materials in the proper manner to prevent damage.
Deliver materials in their original, unopened containers. Store as per
manufacturer's recommendation, protected from possible damage, the elements
and moisture with heavy plastic sheeting.
2.1.2 Remove and replace coverings as required during the course of the Project.
3. EXECUTION
3.1 Installation
3.1.1 Install fire rated assemblies in accordance with the Local Authorities' requirements
or if not available, British Standards. Test results shall be submitted for review
and be acceptable to the Architect prior to installation.
3.1.2 Installation shall also be in accordance with the Drawings and per manufacturer’s
instruction where applicable.

3.1.3 The material shall be capable of adhering onto the concrete or steel substrate
which shall be prepared and cleaned in accordance with manufacturer’s
instructions prior to application of the spray acoustic material.
3.1.4 A suitably qualified, experienced and competent applicator shall be engaged to
carry out the installation. The applicator must be conversant with both the material
used and the application to be carried out. The Contractor shall use only skilled
and experienced workmen for installation of acoustic spray.
