ABSTRACT RESULT
Seismic inversion will be used to get inverted P-velocity, S-velocity
and Density from seismic data. These values can be used to derived
other elastic properties which are P-impedance, S-impedance,
Lambda-Rho, Mu-Rho, SQp and SQs. While well data will be used to
correlate with seismic data in inversion analysis. Cross plotting
between elastic properties will be generated to see their relationship
with Vsand. Linear regression will be used as a parameter to train
neural network as they show good relationship with Vsand. Thus, at
the end of this study, the simultaneous inversion will show how it
works in a characterizing the reservoir properties to locate the
hydrocarbon area in clastic rock of X field, offshore Sabah. Figure 2: Lithology and fluid content analysis based on well log

INTRODUCTION
Problem statement
In common method, sand lithology is predicted from GR response. It
is only cover for one point. It is needed to have 3 D lithology
distribution for exploration and development purposes. Hence, the
lithology prediction especially Vsand distribution from elastic
properties is an important task need to be done. Limitation on the
estimation result on current technology will try to be solved by
including neural network technology and new attribute developed in

Objectives
1. To classify lithology using elastic properties on well log. Coefficient
2. To investigate the sensitivity of elastic properties due to sand Figure 6: Inverted S-Impedance volume

volume changes.
S-Impedance y = -0.017 x + 106.265 0.3730 CONCLUSION
3. To estimate volume of sand from elastic properties.
Lambda-Rho y = -1.27 x + 81.60 0.7351
METHODOLOGY Mu-Rho y = -1.89368 x + 89.27 0.3182 ▪ The new attribute namely SQp and SQs which are derived from
attenuation by using rock physics approximation give some
SQp y = 290.45 x + 55.66 0.7486 significant improvement not only in determining the lithology
SQs y = 91.573 x – 10.49 0.8643 and pore fluid effect but also in predicting sand volume.
