Personality A type and B type

This classification of personality trait is based broadly on anxiety and stress levels.

Type A

The Type A personality generally lives at a higher stress level. This is driven by

 They enjoy achievement of goals and are thus constantly working hard to
achieve these.
 They find it difficult to stop, even when they have achieved goals.
 Feel impatient with the rate at which most events take place.
 They feel the pressure of time. Cannot cope with leisure time.
 They are highly competitive and will, if necessary create competition.
 They hate failure and will work hard to avoid it.
 They are obsessed with numbers, measuring their success in terms of how
many or how much of everything they acquire.

Type B

The Type B personality generally lives at a lower stress level.

 They work steadily, enjoying achievements but not becoming stressed when
they are not achieved.
 Feel no need to display or discuss either their achievements or
accomplishments unless such exposure is demanded by the situation.
 When faced with competition, they do not mind losing and either enjoy the
game or back down.
 They may be creative and enjoy exploring ideas and concepts.
 They are often reflective, thinking about the outer and inner worlds.

Analysis of data collected

 Data was collected from 24 respondents working in the social development


sector. 45.8% respondents were female and 54.2% were male. The sample
included both volunteers and paid social workers. 52.6% female and 47.4%
male were paid social workers while 20% female and 80% male were
volunteer.

 Among the female respondents 18.2% each were divorced and married while
63.6% were unmarried. Among the male respondents 7.7% divorced, 30.8%
were married and 61.5% were unmarried. In all 12.5% divorced, 25% were
married and 62.5% were unmarried.

 Among the females 54.5% were in 22-27 age group, 18.25% in 28-33 age group,
9.1% each in 33-39, 46-50 and 56-60 age group. Among the males 30.8% were in
22-27 age group, 23.1% in 28-33 age group, 15.4% in 33-39 age group and 7.7%
each in 40-45, 46-50, 51-55 and above 60 age group.

 21.1% paid social worker and 20% volunteers were found to be of Type A personality
while 73.3% paid social worker and 80% volunteers were found to be of Type B
personality. 5.3% had both the traits(which we termed as AB type personality).
