 INTRODUCTION

Abha is the capital of Asir province in Saudi Arabia. It is situated 2,200 meters
above sea level in the fertile mountains of south-western Saudi Arabia, near Asir
National Park. Abha's mild climate makes it a popular tourist destination for Saudis.

Eco tourism is all about being sensitive to ones surroundings and the need to
preserve nature. The greenery that abounds in Abha is not only relaxing but also
refreshing. The green patch that is Abha offers shelter to some of the best plant, bird,
mammal, reptile, and amphibian species.
Abha was the capital city for the Prince of Asir Ibn Ayde under the authority of the
Ottoman Empire until World War I. In 1918, the Prince of Asir, Yahya bin Hasun Al
Ayde grandson of IbnAyed, returned to his family throne conquered in Abha with
complete independence. In 1920, the Asir area joined with Ibn Saud during the
Unification of Saudi Arabia.

Abha has many historic places such as forts and other locations thanks to the
regions cultural heritage.

The city of Abha is composed of four quarters, the largest of which contains a
fortress. Hilltop fortresses are a characteristic feature of the city. Shadda Palace, built
in 1927, is now a museum displaying local handicrafts and household items. Other
notable buildings in Abha include the Abha Great Mosque, the Al-Tahy restaurant,
the Abha Palace Hotel, and the funpark next to Lake Sadd. The New Abha five-star
hotel is a recent construction on the lake, 1.5 km southwest of the town. The head
office and the main printing presses of Al Watan, a major Saudi daily, are in Abha.

The Saudi government has promoted Abha as a tourist destination. The city hosts
events to attract visitors to the city and its surroundings, including the summer
Abha Festival, sporting events, shows, exhibitions, and musical performances poets
and singers. The artist TalalMaddah died on stage during one such performance in
Abha.

 CONCLUSION

Abha, the home of the headquarters of the regional Governorate and capital of Asir region,
is located in the south-west of the Kingdom. The region abounds in mountains, valleys and
fertile plains. It has a generally moderate climate, heavy rainfall, green pasture and
agricultural plateaus. Abha is engulfed by clouds and is surrounded by dense forests.

Situated at an elevation of 2270 m (7,500 feet) above sea level, it is a mountain retreat and
vacation spot for people from across Saudi Arabia and the other Arabian Gulf countries,
gives it a relatively moderate climate.

One of the greatest attributes of Abha is the moderate temperature and climate all year
round, which in summer, is noticeably more comfortable than found in other areas of the
country. It has a generally heavy rainfall, green pasture and agricultural plateaus. The Abha
region enjoys the highest level of rainfall of any part of Saudi Arabia.

Blessed with spectacular mountain scenery, a cool climate, fertile soil and moderate rainfall,
Abha is rapidly becoming a major tourist attraction. One of the most populous regions in
the Arabian Peninsula, its long history has resulted in a rich cultural heritage and provides
a colorful mosaic of changing architecture and traditions.
Abha has been beautified and prepared to receive tourists. Available in the city are 5-star
hotels, furnished tourist villas and fashionable motels. Visitors can spend their time moving
between mountain parks amidst a hospitable Arab atmosphere.

Abha was referred as the land of spices and fragrances by the ancient Egyptians and over
time it has become more than that; it is a land of humble people and unforgettable sights.

If you have the privilege of traveling to Saudi Arabia, which is not an easy country to
apply for tourist visa, make a point of traveling south to the province of Asir and enjoy the
mild weather and the beauty that Abha and the region have to offer.

This project only focuses on the view of tourists, it helps to understands the perception
and needs of the tourists and expectations:

 Improve the tourist inflow.

 Enhance the image of Abha Tourism

 Make use of full potential of Abha Tourism

 Contest the newly developing tourist destinations
