54 Sew the mainmast fore trysail 397 to the mainmast gaff 393 with the fine raw thread 308.
Fit the gaff with its sail into the eyebolt 109, located at the jaw of the trysail 332, and sew
this sail with the thread 308 to the stay on the rounding of the mainmast 341. Rig the fore trysail
of the mainmast 397, following the direction of the coloured arrows – the yellow arrows to be
tied in the belay pins 103 of the circular pin-rail 339, the violet arrows to be tied to the belay
pins 103 of the side pin-rails on the mainmast 284, and the green arrow to be tied to the eyebolt
109 located on the deck.

57 With the fine raw thread 308, rig the boom halyard, starting from the eyebolt 109 and
passing the thread through the hole located on the boom 364 and through the 3mm block
348, tying off in the belay pin 103 of the bowsprit pin-rail 116. On the flying jib 403, fit the bowsprit
stays, the jibsail 404 and the fore topmast staysail 405. Secure the sails to the corresponding stays
by means of the rings 108, leaving a 14mm gap between them. Rig the three sails, following the
coloured arrows (see following Step 58).

58 With the fine raw thread 308, rig the flying jib 403, the jibsail 404
and the fore topmast staysail 405, following the direction of the
coloured arrows. The yellow arrows go through the blocks 348 and are
to be tied in the belay pins 103 of the bowsprit pin-rail 116, the blue
arrows are to be tied to the belay pins 103 located on both sides of the
403 bow forecastle, and the red arrows are to go through the 3mm blocks
348 and are to be tied on the belay pins 103 of the foremast.

59 With the medium black cotton thread 384 make the foresail
mast backstays (yellow arrows), the mainmast foretop
backstays (red arrows) and the small mainmast foretop backstays
(blue arrows). All these lead out of the small clump blocks 100 in
the foresail yard chainwales 101 that are to be joined together with 402
the fine raw thread 308. See the next page for more step-by-step
photos.

60 With the medium black cotton thread 384, make the backstays in the mainmast (yellow
arrows), the backstays on the mainmast (red arrows), and the backstays on the topgallant mast
of the mainmast (blue arrows). All lead out of the small clump blocks 100 on the mainmast chainwales
102 that are to be joined together with the fine raw thread 308 (see previous step). With the same
thread 384, make the backstays on the mizzenmast (violet arrows) and the backstays for the mizzen
topgallant mast of the mainmast (green arrows). All these procedures are to be carried out both on
the port and starboard sides.

61 With the fine raw thread 308, rig the mast top-ropes (red arrows for the mainmast and
foremast, pink arrows for the mizzenmast). Run the thread 308 out of the hole in the caps
338 and 357, insert it through the hole located in the base of the masts and thread it through the
block 343 on the other side of the caps and down to the deck, tying them off on the belay pins 103
located on the circular pin-rails 339 (for the main and foremasts, red arrows) and 356 (for the
mizzenmast, pink arrows). Rig the mast top-ropes in the masts in the same way, taking into account
that the green arrows are for the main and foremasts and the yellow arrows for the mizzenmast.
