Seaweed as egg Pigment enhancer

Seaweeds can have a prebiotic effect in poultry diets and improve egg quality in
laying hens. Seaweed included at 1–5% resulted in improved egg production and
quality, it increased weight, shell thickness, and yolk colour and reduced
cholesterol in yolk. It also resulted in a lower E. coli load in faeces, suggesting
better animal health.
Seaweed as Poultry Binder

The commercial poultry industry is pelletizing poultry diets at feed mills with
seaweed for many years. After nutrition pellet quality is the next most important
factor in poultry diet.

Seaweed up to 3% as a pellet binder did not adversely influence

growth performance of poultry birds. Also, the physical test showed some
improvement in pellet hardness quality. Seaweed is a valuable feed resource for
poultry feeding and can be utilized as a pellet binder in poultry diets.
