TITLE:
“INTEGRATED SPORTS COMPLEX”
An integrated sports complex @ tirupati
Creating an international sports complex at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
INTRODUCTION
 The availability and quality of Sports Infrastructure is essential for a country to
achieve success in the global sports arena.
 The facilities encourage children and young adults to actively take part in sporting
activities and equip them with the skills to succeed and shine in an international
forum.
 The sporting culture in India has not been impressive in the past and this scenario
can be attributed majorly to lack of good infrastructure, among other factors.
 The non-availability of infrastructure poses a major impediment to the
development of sports in the country.
 Given the country’s mediocre sporting records and facilities, the scenario in the
state of Andhra Pradesh has not been any different.
 Taking into account the current scenario and the need to empower the youth of its
state to compete globally, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has laid a strong
emphasis on providing world class sports infrastructure to its aspiring population.
 As part of this, the government has proposed to build world-class integrated sports
complexes in the state to achieve its objective and the first step towards this
initiative is an Integrated Sports Complex in the city of Tirupati.
 INCAP (Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh), formed in 2005 is a nodal
agency under the Government with an objective to expedite the infrastructure
development in the state through support activities that include and not limited to
project conceptualization, feasibility studies, project structuring and PPPs.
AIM
 Creating an integrated sports complex with efficient facilities.
 Designing the sports complex to the international standards so that the sports
complex
 Capable to conduct the international sports activities.
 Creating mass elements with structural systems and the roofing system of the
stadium complex.
 Designing the sports complex with the additional features like the sports person
accommodation, food court, meeting halls, conference halls, media centres.

OBJECTIVE
 To enrich the economic and sports prospects of the city.
 To promote the importance of the physical education and the importance of the
sports through the sports complex.
 The state of Andhra Pradesh is determined to develop an Integrated Sports
Complexes that will encourage sporting activities and healthy lifestyle in the
region.
 The facility would act as a venue for national and international sporting events
and would also promote sports/sportspersons across the country by means of
academies.
 The local population would substantially benefit from this complex as it would
encourage them to enrol in sports via membership schemes and thus promote
healthy living.
 People with inclination to take up professional sports would have adequate
opportunities to get trained via experienced and reputed coaches.
SCOPE
 The encouragement of sports and related activities is positively linked to socio-
economic development, lower crime, human capital improvement, leadership
skills and an overall improvement in well-being of the general populations.
 The sports programs, functions which is conducted in the sports complex will
increase the economic growth of the city.
 Possible of investments of sports-based companies in the city.
 It’ll encourage the people’s perception on sports.

THRUST AREA
 Understanding the structural systems which is used in the roofing systems.
 Orientation, spatial planning, usage of landscape, section of materials and
structural systems.
 The different characteristics of spaces like the difference between a closed gallery
and a open gallery and landscape paves.
LIMITATIONS
 The sports facilities in the complex shall encompass the following:
 Outdoor facility
 Football (FIFA Standard) cum Cricket stadium (ICC Standard) with gallery
of 2600 capacity
 Athletic (IAAF Standard) with gallery of 900 capacity
 Aquatic Complex with 2200 capacity
 Tennis Complex with 1000 capacity
 Rock Climbing
 Volley ball – 3 courts
 Kabaddi fields – 8 Nos
 Jogging Track – 7M Width

 Indoor facilities
 Indoor Stadium 1 – 2000 gallery capacity
 Badminton Courts - (To be interchangeably used as Badminton/
 Volleyball courts) – 14 Nos
 Basketball/Volleyball court – 1 No

 Other facilities
 Academy building including Dormitories
 Food Courts
 Amphitheatre – 2700 Temporary Gallery
 Guest House Complex - 22 units
 Studio Apartments – 50 units
 Shopping Arena and club house
 The integrated sports complex thesis will be limited with the outdoor and indoor
facilities with the parking.
 The total area allotted for the sports complex is 85 acres after the thesis limitations
the site area is 40 acres.

SITE LOCATION
 The land is being divided by the four-lane road up to the village
Vippamanapattada on the southern border.
 At the north the site is bordered by Amman Ayanna Agro farms (poultry
farms)
 East: Tank
 South: Vippamanapattada Village
 West: DKT Lands (lands given to SC/ ST temporarily)
