To Whom It May Concern

re: Ms. Natasha Gibson

It is with pleasure that I write a letter of reference for Ms. Gibson. I was her field experience supervisor during her
Year 4 B. Ed. Spring practicum. She enrolled a class of nineteen students in Kindergarten/grade one.

My experience shows me that the learning curve for a student teacher in a K/1 setting is exceptionally steep and
yet Ms. Gibson took on the challenges of working with five and six year olds with desire, effort, and a positive
attitude! She had the good fortune to be mentored by a master sponsor teacher who shared her knowledge and
experience with working with early primary children.

Ms. Gibson possesses many qualities that are conducive to good teaching. She presents as a caring teacher who
makes meaningful connections with her students. She speaks respectfully with her students and is an excellent
role model. Her organizational skills are reflected in her ability to have all resources and materials ready and
prepared for her lessons. Long term unit planning and daily lesson planning supported lesson delivery throughout
her practicum experience. Moreover, Ms. Gibson is reflective and analyzes lessons she has taught. Learning is the
focus in the classroom which provides students with a safe, secure, predictable learning environment. She utilized
a variety of classroom management strategies to support structured learning and teaching. Appropriate use of
technology, and a variety of instructional strategies supported student engagement and learning.

In short, Ms. Gibson had a very successful practicum experience. If I were still a school principal, I would want her
to be a member of my staff.
