Audioscript:
Radio presenter: Today we’re talking about painful but funny accidents. First to
tell us his story is Jack. Hi, Jack. How did you hurt your foot?
Jack: Well, I was playing a game with my friends. I had to walk
around the room with my eyes closed. As I was walking, I
pushed a big book that was on a shelf with my shoulder. It fell
on my toe and it really hurt!
Radio presenter: Ouch! Next is Miranda.
Miranda: Hi. I was shopping with my friends and I saw a beautiful ring. It
was too small to put on my finger but I tried anyway. It was too
tight and I couldn’t take it off again. I had to buy it and then go
to hospital and ask them to cut it off for me! A student doctor
cut the ring off, but he also cut my finger!
Radio presenter: That’s quite funny, Miranda – sorry! (laughing) Nicky, you’re up
next. What’s your story?
Nicky: Mine is even more embarrassing than Miranda’s! I was acting in
a school play and I had to wear high heels. I never wear shoes
like that so it was really hard for me to walk on stage. And of
course what happened is that I fell over in front of the whole
school during the play. My ankle hurt for two weeks after that.
Radio presenter: Oh dear. And, on to our next caller. Hello, Richard.
Richard: Hi ... I was on a school trip in the mountains. There was a girl I
liked called Sue. I’m good at skiing so she asked me to teach her.
As we were skiing, I didn’t see a small rock and we both fell
over it. She hurt her knee and I hurt my elbow. She wasn’t very
happy.
Radio presenter: Sorry about that, Richard. Now for our last caller, Amy. Hi, Amy.
Amy: Well, I was helping Mum make a cake. I put the cake in the
oven and then went to watch TV while it cooked. After about
40 minutes, I suddenly remembered the cake, so I ran into the
kitchen to get it out of the oven. But I slipped and fell… and I
landed on my chin! It really hurt, and I bled a lot. But… the cake
was fine!
