PREPARATION:
Note: Refer to the color photo for shading and detail placement.

• Basecoat the entire surface with Gesso. Let dry. Gently sand.
• Brush on random patches of Cobalt Teal Hue and Quinacridone Magenta. (Do not overlap.)
• Brush on patches if Titanium White over the uncovered spaces.
• While still wet, roll over the paints with the brayer to lightly blend and soften.
• Let Dry.
• Load the Décor Cling DREAM Stamp with Titanium White and stamp the background. This does not need to
be perfect. Note: The stamp comes with a plastic sheet, I use this to cover areas that I have already stamped
when doing large backgrounds.
• Let dry.
• Sand lightly to smooth the surface a little but if desired.
• Paint the top, bottom and the sides of the board with Titan Buff.
• Trace on the pattern.
• Shade around the design with Prussian Blue Hue.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:
My technique: The basecoat, shading and highlight is
a wet one wet process using the same brush. I blend
the shading and the highlighting. Dampen brush when
needed.
Floating color is only used when I deepen the shading
or brighten highlights and will be noted in the instruc-
tions below.
Snow faces:
• Base with Titan Buff.
• Using the same dirty brush, corner load with Raw
Sienna and blend in the shading under the hats.
• Clean the brush then reload lightly with Titan Buff,
then corner load into Titanium White to blend in
the highlights along the chins.
• Drybrush the cheeks with a brush mix of
Quinacridone Magenta and Titanium White.
• Base the noses with Cadmium Orange Hue. Shade
with the dirty brush corner loaded in Quinacridone
Magenta. Clean the brush then reload lightly
Cadmium Orange Hue, then corner load into
Primary Yellow to highlight.
• Dot the eyes with Carbon Black, then dot the
sparkle with Titanium White.
Note: follow the same process as the snowmen for all
painting unless otherwise mentioned.
Stems:
• Paint the stems with the #2 Round brush loaded
with Yellow Green Light.
• Reload and tip in Prussian Blue Hue to shade.
• Reload and tip in Primary Yellow to highlight.
Snow flower:
• Base the flower petals with Titanium White.
• Shade with Cobalt Teal Hue.
• Float the tips of the petals with Titanium White.
• Line the bow with Carbon Black.
Brown hat:
• Basecoat with Raw Sienna.
• Shade with Burnt Umber.
• Highlight with Primary Yellow.
• Deepen the shading with floats of Burnt Umber.
• Brighten highlights with a float of Primary Yellow.
• Line the stipes on the hat brim with Primary Yellow.
• Line the crosshatching with Carbon Black.
• Line the vines with Burnt Sienna tipped in Carbon
Black.
• Dot the flower centers with Cadmium Orange Hue.
• Dot the petals around the center with Primary
Yellow.
• “Tap” in the leaves with the 10/0 liner brush loaded
with Yellow Green Light tipped in Primary Yellow.

• Base the bow with the #2 Round brush loaded with
Primary Yellow tipped in Titanium White. Float in
shading with Primary Yellow.

Pink Hat:
• Basecoat with Quinacridone Red mixed with a
touch of Titanium White (makes a nice pink).
• Shade with Quinacridone Red.
• Highlight with Titanium White.
• Deepen the shading with floats of Quinacridone Red.
• Brighten highlights with a float of Titanium White.
• Line and dot the hat with Titanium White.
• Base the bow with the #2 Round brush loaded with
Titanium White tipped in Cobalt Teal Hue. Float in
shading with Cobalt Teal Hue.
• Pink Bow: Same as Pink Hat.

Tag and Scallops:

• Trace on and cut out from an old dictionary page.
• Adhere in place with the Matte Medium.
• Base with a wash on Titan Buff. Shade with soft
floats of Raw Sienna. Highlight with floats of
Titanium White.
• Line the lettering and the string with Carbon Black.

FINISHING:
• Outline as desired with Carbon Black.
