CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background of Study

Nowadays, there are so many ways to help people in learning English language . Such as

from materials, these materials are can from dictionaries, books, pictures, textbook, programmed

course,etc. Kemajuan pendidikan juga sangat berpengaruh dengan kemajuan technology.

Technology secara umum adalah...... Di dalam pendidikan, technology mempunyai.....

English adalah bahasa international dimana bahasa ini digunakan sebagai bahasa

pemersatu dunia. Dalam belajar bahasa inggris, basic skill yang paling dasar adalah

mempunyai banyak kosa kata. Vocabulary sangatlah penting dalam perkembangan berbagai

skill seperti membaca, menulis, berbicara, dan mendengar. Semakin banyak vocabulary yang

dipunya maka semakin baik lah kemampuan berbahasa inggris. Untuk membantu hal tersebut,

metode Word Cloud adalah salah satu cara yang tepat.

Muehleisen (1997) states that students are interested in using the Internet for three

reasons. The first reason, students are considered the internet is a tren and they want to be part of

it. The second reason, students seek information about English and find the term for their

language mastery. The third reason, the Internet provides hands-on experience with

communicative functional functionalities that will be able to motivate them in using everyday

English.

1.2. Research Questions

Concerning to the background of the study, the researcher formulated the research

Question as follows :

2. What are students responses toward the use of word cloud in learning english?

2.2. Theoretical and Practical Significances of the Study

The researcher hopes this research can give contribution to the English teaching and

learning. It has two major significances : practical and theoretical :
