‘Ready to Start Request’ button on the LCP. When the request is received in the
DCS, the control room operator confirms the request by pressing the DCS
‘Ready to Start’ button. This sets the ‘Ready to Start’ indications on the LCP
and the DCS, and provides a final permissive to the start-up logic.
The field operator presses the ‘Start’ button on the LCP. This will start the
applicable driver. The compressor will start in full recycle.
When the compressor is running, the field operator opens the bypass valve of

its trip value the operator can open the discharge ZV and close the bypass
valve.
When the compressor discharge ZV is open the compressor can be loaded as
required, utilizing the ramp-up/ramp down function of the performance controller,
and transferred to automatic control.
