The 164-5489 Piston Pump is a tandem pump that is used for the swing function. The two pumps that form
the swing pump are variable displacement axial piston pumps. Both pumps have the same specifications. The
rotation of the tandem pump is counterclockwise when the rotation is viewed from the drive end. Use SAE
viscosity grade 10 hydraulic oil at 65°C (149°F) for testing the pump.

Test the maximum flow rate of the tandem pump at the rated speed.

Output ... 938 L/min (248 US gpm)

Pump pressure ... 6895 kPa (1000 psi)
Pump speed ... 1915 rpm
Engine speed ... 1750 rpm

(1) Use the adjustment screw for the positive flow control spool in order to adjust the swing activation
pressure to the following value. ... 880 ± 100 kPa (128 ± 15 psi)

(7) Shims are used to adjust the load which is applied by the spring on the barrel assembly. Use the necessary
shims in order to attain dimension (A). Dimension (A) is 171.20 + 0.00 - 0.25 mm (6.740 + 0.000 -0.010
inch). Replace the spring set with three 9.330 ± 0.010 mm (0.3673 ± 0.0004 inch) pins in order to measure
dimension (A) .

165-9361 Shim ... 0.50 mm (0.020 inch)

165-9362 Shim ... 0.75 mm (0.030 inch)

(8) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the four bolts. Tighten the four bolts to the
