• How do we collaborate, flexibly, in large numbers?
• We tell (and believe) stories

Mental models & stories
• We see the world not as it is but as
we think about it
• Some mental models are useful
and progressive and some are not
• How mental models form?
What is Education?
• Education is an attempt at altering someone’s story
• Replacing mental models (earth is round vs earth is flat)
• Academia, business and policy makers should tell a useful story
• MOOCs and scale
• In a classroom, students:staff ratios are important
• In MOOCs community is important

ratings across the majority of entrepreneurship ecosystem
indicators. In Switzerland, 11 out of 12 conditions exhibit
among the 10 highest values in the sample. The Netherlands
has 10 such highly-rated conditions, Malaysia has 8, and
Canada and Luxembourg each have 7.”

Brain Rewiring
At Kaizen Blitz event, I implemented your idea of
replacing P-word with "Opportunity" or "Challenge" and
gave each Kaizen team member $10 in ones. If someone
used the word "problem”, the one that caught the slip got
$1 from them. It was a fun way to help change language
and mindset. Nobody left with less than $5 as they all
learned to re-frame before opening their mouths.

Robert Newman
CEO, MiTeGen
New York, USA
"Stripping off the P-word of its
power by replacing it with the
word opportunity has been one of
the most useful methods I use
with my clients, helping them
unlock their unlimited potential
within and overcome any stuckness
they may experience.”

Humaira Ansari
Clinical Hypnotherapist
Manchester, UK
“After challenging myself to exclude
the ”P-word" from my daily
vocabulary, constantly adjusting my
mindset to be positive, and
proactively acknowledging my
emotions, my colleagues have
noticed a change in me.

I then started noticing a boomerang

effect on my team and the people
around me, a positive energy that I
was giving off was now always
bouncing back at me. I liked this!!

I then challenged the team i work

with to exclude the "p-word" from
Ferial Fakier their vocabulary as well, it was now
Radiographer some sort of game we were

Melbourne, Australia
“I always had a stutter. Speaking with
anybody or to groups is a major P-word.
The moment I substituted the P-word
with “opportunity,” every thing changed
like magic. It has not removed my stutter,
but given me a strength to deal with it.
Stuttering is feedback for me to slow
down and it breaks the monotony in
speech.”

Michael Sony
India
I would definitely say that refusing
to utter the P-Word developed the
habit to be formless like water: I
am always aware that there is at
least a way to resolve any issue in
life, no matter how "big" it seems.
