Subject: Request for long term field trip to 5th year power and control engineering students

Quality education is among the major goals of Adama science and technology university by which school
of electrical engineering and computing, has been contributing a lot in both academic and research activities
through qualifying competent and skillful graduates as well as generating technologies which have been
helpful for the industrial community of the country.

The school of electrical and computing engineering has been part of the universities achievements via
involvement in both research and academic issues. Especially, for the realization of competent and skillful
graduates, the courses that have been delivered comprise both theoretical and practical sessions. Since,
practical learning is mandatory to equip students with an in depth practical skill, knowledge, and
experiences thereby enhance the overall competency of students.

However, courses such as computer application in power system and process control, which are offered this
semester don’t have equipped demonstration sites in and around the universities where the students can be
familiarized with the practical situations. Hence, arranging a long term field trip to power generating station
and industrial park is meant to be relevant to let the students realize their theoretical background with
practical skill.

Therefore, as a course instructor, I kindly request the school to facilitate the required inputs for the
accomplishment of the stated pertinent long-term field trips. The detail of the travel plan is attached in the
table below.
