To the Goldfix Community:

Today was my last broadcast for a while. Those of you who tuned in know why. Today was a reminder that
multitasking isn’t just folly for me, it’s a capitulation to mediocrity. Since September 20181 I’ve been doing
live GoldFix broadcasts. That was Phase 1. As of December 2018 there is a Phase 2. Now is the time to
focus on it. Below is the glide path for those interested.

Phase 1: We Did it All For You

We wanted to give listeners a little more knowledge of what goes on in markets and themselves.
Trading can be self-revealing and I frequently thought out loud for that reason
My first love is in being in a learning process. Trading is merely another tool for self-learning.

...and For Me
My self-interest was simple: to put content out to refresh my own trading process while getting my
chops for future classroom lectures. But then, in a December meeting I mentioned, how cool it
would be if we could simulcast to adults with skin in the game? That retail brokers have blurred the
educational line with schlock. Why not take it back?

He said “When do we start videotaping?” And I shit myself, as this was a dream. But he also had
demands.
He was all for the original educational recording idea. But now I wanted live free simulcast as well.
So his ask was: Is there enough interest at the proposed teaching level to justify that?

Phase 2: Is There Anybody Out There?

So I put off the new fund longer to see. That entailed finding enough people were not yet reduced to
skinner-box chickens or single product-cultists.
Then to see if they were accessible despite the dual obstacles of slime and dumbed down crap
(DDC) in the way:
● Slime: ubiquitous tripe that sells itself as knowledgeable.
● DDC: brokerage firms offer educational pablum to captive clients to get more commissions.
Secondly it was to see if it was possible to replicate online the immersive style of teaching used
when I ran Berard Capital.

I’m happy to say it is. It ain’t easy2, but it is. The idea was approved.

Immersion teaching excels when attendee feedback can be efficiently utilized. Virtual classrooms aren’t ideal for that
yet
The GoldFix Successor will:
1. Stream live from a university classroom weekly
2. Use Blended Learning3 for virtual attendees
3. Have Best-of-Breed guest lecturers4
➔ Fund Mgrs: energy, global macro, carbon-credits, metals
➔ Academics: finance, economics, mentors
➔ Traders: futures, stocks, options, HFT, floor

● What’s ready: syllabus, department head approval/participation, logistics

● TBD: scheduling, “grade” level, and the sausage parts

Moor Analytics:
When Michael has his new Gold Technical product available I’ll let you know. Working on how to get
it to people and if should offer alerts when levels are crossed.

Echobay Trading:
My own contributions will be that much better when in full swing managing risk, as any colleague of
mine will tell you. Conversely, they can also tell you multi-tasking is not something at which I excel.5
The Bitcoin miss and my reaction should tell you that.

Finally, I wanted to thank everyone who helped and hope to see you on the other side. Reach me
by DM on twitter or email if you have it. Otherwise I’m fasting from screens
Best,
VBL
