Battle continues

March 27, 2019 Nifty daily: 11,445.05

The Nifty opened gap up today near the hourly upper

Bollinger Band. The index hovered near the band in
the first half & buckled in the second half resulting in
a steep fall. Thus the index posted a negative daily
close with a lower top in place on the daily chart. The
hourly chart shows that the index can take form of a
distribution triangle before embarking on a southward
journey. This means that the index can trade in a range
of 11430-11530 before heading further down. Overall,
the set up suggests that a short term top is already in
place at the recent high of 11573. On the other hand,
swing low of 11311 is a crucial support below which
larger decline will be in the offing.

Other technical observations
On the daily chart, the Nifty is above the 20-day
moving average (DMA) and the 40-DEMA, i.e. 11213
and 11103 respectively. The momentum indicator is in
bearish mode on the daily chart.
On the hourly chart, the Nifty is above the 20-hour
moving average (HMA) and the 40-HEMA, i.e. 11420
and 11439 respectively. The hourly momentum
indicator is in bearish mode. The market breadth was
negative with 801 advances and 958 declines on the
National Stock Exchange.
