what makes those small thoughts so special. And then they become big ideas.
 Cosrob97
 Dalpra Back in May, I was disappointed, knowing that many users saw the User Education team as
pointless, useless, even going as far as asking for it to be completely gotten rid of. Anyone
who has ever been a true User Educator would have been offended, not the ones that were
here for a couple of months till they got bored and decided to leave. Being one of those, I
started thinking. Why couldn't the User Education have a small newsletter published ever so
often. I then contacted R33l2r3al, and asked for permission to start work on it. At that point,
it was a big idea.

Now you may wonder why it's taken so long to publish the first edition when it was originally
scheduled for posting in May. I left late May, and the User Education team has been rocked
with changes in users. When I returned, I got together with a few User Educators and started
to gradually pick up the broken pieces. I'll be the first to admit the User Education team has
not been fulfilling it's potential, and as being one of only two official Sythe user groups, should
be more heavily involved within the Sythe community. We've pledged to become more in-
volved within the community, and Sythe Monthly is one of just a few projects we are looking
to implement. You can have faith in that we will have more small thoughts, and more big
ideas.

How to lose over 9000 posts, and gain them back..

By Hahanerd

Gohanforever, one of Sythe's favourite and loved members, and member who currently has the most post count on Sythe,
made a series of mistakes that he won't ever do again in his time on Sythe. Gohanforever, who has over 12,000 posts,
created a thread titled 'How to Spam on Sythe.org without getting caught'. At this point Gohan, who already had 4 infrac-
tions, got a 5th for a post he made somewhere in the forums. Rules state that users will get a 3 day ban for a build-up of
5 infractions. Gohan went along and disputed like any other member.

Now, this was really unique. The thread created in the Spam Forum caught the attention of Pen, a Sythe.org Administra-
tor. Sick of the useless spam that Gohan usually posts around the forums, Pen decided that he would remove 10,000 post
count off Gohan's account. Gohan, quite upset, disputed and questioned the removal of his post count. Pen simply stated
that it was a suitable consequence for deliberately raising his post count up.

Gohanforever was still very upset. He made another dispute and asked for a permanent ban. Pen, knowing that he was
upset and didn't really mean it, asked him to rethink it over. After further discussion, Gohan realized he'd return to Sythe,
and Pen would replace his post count if he agreed not to spam the forums with useless posts.

Returning from a 3 day ban, Gohanforever is still with us today and has contributed with helpful and meaningful posts
from his ban.

Ghostsnet really becomes a ghost

By Cosrob97

Ghosts IRC, a place of fun or a place for harbouring criminals? Earlier this month, x9, a former global moderator, had his ac-
count deleted, along with a several other IRC regulars. This argument erupted when x9 was confronted by Sythe about allowing
Syed and Cruel Machine (banned on Sythe for trolling and child porn) on Ghost IRC (the server x9 runs). The following is a
chat log where x9 was first confronted by Sythe himself. Leading up to these events, Sythe decided to censor the word Ghosts
IRC on Sythe.
Quote:

A few days after this conversation x9's account was deleted. Following this - I asked Sythe why he cares so much about distaste-
ful people and x9’s IRC, his response was, “In any compromise between food and poison, it is only death that can win. In any
compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit. - Ayn Rand.
This is a philosophy I live every minute of every day. I take it with the utmost seriousness." Understandingly, he did for the bet-
ter.

While going into the Ghosts IRC is not a banable offence - frequenting it too much could possibly lead you to a ban. Since then
Sythe.org and Ghosts Irc has been fully separated and nobody else has been banned from Sythe.org.

Promotions plus exclusive interview with Greg is Lacrosse

Alteranz --> Returning as Graphics Moderator – crazy, “
After taking a leave from global moderator due to being busy IRL, returned to help out in the GFX section.

An interview with the only “new” moderator left: Gregislacrosse.

How did you first find out about your promotion?

Cosrob started spamming me when I got up on Sunday morning. I thought he was trolling me until I started getting trolled by
Brendan W, Surround Sound, and a bunch of other people.
What was your initial reaction when you realized it wasn’t a troll?
I got up, screamed “F***ING YES!!”. But once I realized I couldn’t log in I became impatient and eager.
Why couldn’t you log in?
You need a special code from an admin to prevent hacking or something.
Oh, I never knew that. I’m assuming you were expecting OMM, but did market mod come as a surprise?
Yeah I sort of figured I would get OMM, looking at the start to finish ratio, I sort of figured the odds were in my favor. But the
market mod really came as a surprise. I only have 1.4kish posts and 100ish vouches, so I didn’t really think I was “in the hunt”
so to speak.
How hard was it completing the OMM application?
It was one of the most painful, excruciating and repetitive things I have ever done. I really enjoy middle manning but the proofs
drove me crazy, I got so sick of those by the time I was complete I didn’t even want to touch the print screen. But hey, I am
completed and it was totally worth it. I love being an OMM so much <3
How are you enjoying being a moderator?
I enjoy it a lot, however I have spent so much time on sythe, and because of it my grades have dropped. But now that the mod
rush is over I hopefully will be able to find a balance school, lacrosse and sythe.
Any final words you would like to say to the Sythe community?
Always expect the unexpected, always stay legit, and hit me up on msn if you need something or want to talk.

Interview with former OMM, Plznate

By Gregislacrosse

So Plznate, How does it feel to finally be unbanned on sythe?

It feels good now, I feel pretty lucky to have been given grace considering the circumstance, but considering the home that Sythe has become for me, a
month was still a LONG time to be away.

So what exactly did you do during your time away from sythe?
I initially set up shop on powerbot, because once a marketfag, always a marketfag, and I had to find a place to peddle all my goods. Sadly, the powerbot
community is not nearly as active or as enjoyable as the Sythe community, so I am proud to say that I very infrequently go to PB anymore. Outside of that I
spent some time figuring out other areas of my life, and I continued to talk and do business with many of my current friends on Sythe. I lurked almost every
day, so I never missed anything big that happened on the site ; )

What do you think makes Sythe.org better than other websites?

In addition to the fact that it has the largest user base, and is truly the main "black market" for all things RS, I think the selection of the staff on Sythe has a
big overall affect. I found that during my monthlong trip to other sites, the rules there are much less rigid. I initially thought that was a good thing, until I saw
the consequences; tons of spam on every one of my selling threads, flaming, and just a disorganized way of handling things in general. Rules are strict on
Sythe, and staff adhere to them well, however in the end I honestly think that just keeps Sythe one step ahead of every other site out there as #1.

What have you done since you became unbanned?

Well naturally I had to visit the place where I was raised on Sythe (spam forum), and naturally, I began almost instantly with my standard market procedures.
Thus in the 2 weeks I have been back I have MMed around 15 trades, began a fairly successful upgrade shop, delved into some rare items trading, as well as
my newest project, selling merch stock for a well known clan in RS. On top of the market stuff, i have been trying to post a bit more in the off topic sections
and getting more active around there. Lastly, I have been trying to post in the sections that I know well and help people out where I can.

Does this mean you will be gradually leaving your role as market fag?
Not at all. Although I do tons of market trading, and will continue to do so, I also thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of the site, maintaining friendships,
assisting members where I can, and attempting to positively affect the overall atmosphere of the site (exlcuding some minor spam forum shenanigans, natu-
rally).

Any last words you would like to tell sythe?

Just that I am glad to be back, and feel free to contact me with any questions that I may be of assistance with. Enjoy your time on Sythe and appreciate the
community aspects of it, because you truly don't realize what a fun place it is until you have it taken away from you. See you all around!
