Then follow the steps and How to Reset Printer Canon MP287 error code E08
2. Turn off the Canon MP287 Printer with power cord still attached to the position of the source
of electric current.
The Canon E04, E05, E14 and E15 error messages appear when a Canon Pixma inkjet printer is
having trouble recognising one or more cartridges. Canon’s official text to describe the error is
“The FINE Cartridge cannot be recognized” however these messages may also appear when
using refilled or remanufactured Canon ink cartridges which do not carry canon ‘FINE’ branding
as well. This does not however mean you must use a brand new Canon cartridge in your printer
only that your printer is having trouble identifying the installed cartridge as compatible.
Your Canon printer uses a series of golden colour contacts on the front of the cartridge as the
only point of contact with the cartridge. If these contacts are obscured by dirt, ink or natural oils
from your hands this can cause this message to occur, it may even be that the contacts have
become damaged (visibly or otherwise) while the cartridge was being handled.
Whatever the case I would recommend running though the basic troubleshooting below in an
attempt to resolve the issue.
3. Double check the label of the cartridge to ensure the correct cartridge is
being installed for your printer.
4. Wipe down the contacts on the front of the cartridge using a piece of kitchen
With any luck the cartridge will now be recognised by your printer and you will be able to carry
on printing. if however one of the E04, E05, E14 or E15 “The FINE Cartridge cannot be
recognized” messages remain it is likely that the cartridge is damaged/defective. Sadly in this
instance the only option that remains is to replace the cartridge, preferably one produced by
another party or from another batch.
If you have experienced this issue with multiple cartridges it may be that the corresponding
contacts inside the printer have become obscured or even damaged. Thankfully these contacts
can be easily accessed by removing the cartridge from the printer and can also be cleaned using
the same kind of tissue. These contacts can be pointed in some printers so take care not to leave
behind pieces of tissue when cleaning.
Along with the printer models mentioned above the cleaning of the contacts can help the PG-
510, CL-511, PG-512 and CL-513 range of ink cartridges be accepted by a printer. The following
printers are all compatible with these black and colour cartridges, the Canon Pixma iP2700,
Pixma iP2702, Pixma MP230, Pixma MP240, Pixma MP250, Pixma MP252, Pixma MP260,

Pixma MX340, Pixma MX350, Pixma MX410 and Pixma MX420.
You can even use the above advice to clear the E04, E05, E14 and E15 errors with the
Canon Pixma MG2150, Pixma MG2250, Pixma MG3150, Pixma MG3155, Pixma MG3250,
