3) Fan Friendly

PPP – Points per possession

What we score when get the ball back

PPP Goals
1) Inside shots = 60% 0.6 x 2 = 1.2 ppp
* Layups
* Offensive putbacks
* Over 1 is very good

2) 3 Pt. Shots 35%

0.35 % x 3 = 1.05 ppp

3) Free Throw = 70%

0.7 X 2 = 1.4 ppp

Philosophy – 3 or Key
Get to the rack

Basic Set up – See Court – Figure 1

Two pt. grds – 1 and 5 man, attackers (drive it 1st) shoot it 2nd.
2, 3 men are both shooters – shoot it 1st and drive it second
4 Man – Rim runner – Go opposite block of ball, below the block feet

Keys to offense
1) spacing
2) Create as many gaps as possible
3) Attack, Attack
Anytime when we can pass it ahead we do this. Esp. on the break

Lane Penetration – Get to the rack

Once the guard gets in area to attack

Attitude to get to these spots by attackers

Attack and Drag

Open Window – An area so the attacker can see the weakside shooter

Attackers get past these areas

Attacker Attacks and jump stops – crack back at the rack zone and drag 5

Middle Pentration – To kick back – I Formation from the top

Kick back and attack the rack
1 and 5 go I formation on the top – 4 begins to shift sides

Redrag action if 1 continues go from right to left

5 Redrags back

3 goes to the corner, 5 stays ball side on the outlet, 4 stays opposite the dribble in as 1 goes to the
rack zone

4 Man – Clean Up position

* Attacker looks to attack hard to the rim
* If you give it up get out and swing it
* Break the 3 point line go to the rack – Major rule for the dribbler
* 3 or Key
With Fill Spots

Any time that the ball goes to a wing the opposite wing should be on a diagonal
Example – 3 dribbles middle and 2 is in the corner opposite
3 Man can only go middle penetration

Drop Zone
1-2 Game – Backdoor action, Overplays, 1 gives the look to 2 for the read
4 Man would T Up on the backdoor
T Up – 4 shifts up

1-2 Backdoor, 2 not open, becomes, 1-4 game – Principle

4 Man Calls for the ball on T Ups
Space to the NBA 3 Range
The 4 Man gets a quick clear out if the 1-4 give and go is not open

Positive kick back

I-Formation – 1, 5 when in front of the rim

 Shooters need to learn how to backdoor

1 goes to the drop zone and 3 back doors

If 3 is not open 3 goes to thru to the other side 4 T’s up

I-Formation, 2 back doors off 1 to 5 dribble drive penetration

4 T’s up other side, 2 goes thru

Whenever the 1 hits 2 on a kick up, the 1 must fill the 2’s spot in the corner

Positive Kickups on down hill penetration, 2 goes right @ where 1 left, a gap opens up because
1x has to follow 1
Kick back to up to drop zone 3

If 3 dribbles on his side, 4 man stays at home, only time he comes up the lane is if 3 dribbles to
the opposite drop zone

A triple gap is the best gap possible scenario

4/5 (4 set, 1-5 )

4/5 Drop 2

5 holds open gaps – 2 count

Once the ball crosses ½ ct. 2 & 3 drop to the corner from the wing
Drag Zone-J Stop reverse pivot
Early in the drag zone, look for the 3
Late in the drag zone, look for the 5
Too much dribbling – simple – Pass & Cut
Backdoor rules
1) Ball Fake
2) Dribble at you
3) Cutter gives a fist – Shooter (UNC rule)
On the dribble shooters need to stay @ home and stay space.

Wing to Guard
Wing – after your pass back to the guard drop to the corner to open up the gap to make bigger
