Machinery Spare Parts

Introduction:
Machinery spare parts are arranged in store for smooth and trouble-free operation of all production
machines. All critical parts inventory is developed for timely replacement of parts in case of any
fault/damage.

Critical Parts:
Some parts of machines could be critical and without them, machine cannot perform the required
function. These parts are usually provided by the manufacturer of the machine during commissioning.
Non-critical Parts:
Some parts of the machine could be non-critical i.e. machine can give production without those parts.
These parts also need to be arranged in inventory.

Procedure:
To procure any part of the machine, it can either be purchased by machine manufacturer according to
its part number mentioned on spare part as well as on its drawing or from direct supplier by the part’s
model number. Quotes are received from different vendors either from abroad or locally depending
upon the part criticality and most economical one is approved. Some parts are locally arranged i.e.
relays, switches while some critical parts like inverters, encoded motors are purchased from authorized
supplier.

Spare Parts List:


A list is prepared having all parts with their complete description. A template is given below:

In Sapphire, to purchase any part, a demand is raised describing all information regarding spare part and
is sent to Purchase Department in head office. Purchase department purchases that part and send to
Sapphire. Upon receiving the part, it is evaluated and is used through move order.
