Narration: Hey, this is Mrs. Roberson and I wanted to share a book with you today. How many
of you love to play with your family? How would you feel if all of the sudden your family
wasn’t there and you were living in a cage? Have you ever seen an animal mistreated? Or
have you ever wanted to protect a friend? In the book “The One and Only Ivan” by Katherine
Applegate, you will meet Ivan, a gorilla, that might not live with his family anymore, but he
makes some unlikely friends. Ivan lives in a mall in a small glass cage with a runaway dog
named Bob, and next to him an elephant named Stella. Spectators come to see Ivan in his
glass domain, and then things begin to change for Ivan. Follow me on this journey of
friendship and hope.

threw her trunk at him, sending him to the floor. After talking with Ivan, Ruby realized she had
perform for Mack because otherwise he may hurt her again. Ivan now knows he needs a plan
