Conjunction
A man and a dog.
She sang and danced.
He tired but he failed.
She came before you came.
Do it now before you forget.
I did it because I had to.

Note: The same word may be a Conjunction, a Preposition or


an Adverb. See the following:
A. Before as:
1. A preposition: The year before last.
2. An adverb: It happened before.
3. A Conjunction: Do it now before you forget.
B. After as:
1. A preposition: The week after next.
2. An adverb: what does comes after?
3. A Conjunction: I arrived after he left.

Note: The conjunction joins two words, phrases, sentences


and clauses of the same importance.
Some Conjunctions are used in pairs;
1) as, both with and.
e.g. We both love and honor him.
a. Either-or
Either take it or leave it.
b. Neither-nor
It is neither useful nor ornamental.
c. Whether-or
I don’t care whether you go or stay.
d. Not only-but also
Not only he is foolish,but also obstinate.
