Dear Hiring Manager:

Please consider me for the cashier position at JC Penney for which you currently have an
opening. I located the position through a peer of mine and I have heard nothing but positive
things working there. I became excited about the opportunity to expand my experience with the
elderly. In addition to my experience with a high accuracy with monetary transactions, I am
confident that I would make a positive contribution the JC Penney community.

As of now, I am attending Arizona State University to pursue a career in Elementary Education. I

have always felt the need to give back to my community through prior experience. My prior
experience in the food business goes back to when I helped served families at Saint Vincent de
Paul kitchens. As this is my first year in college, I recently graduated high school with a 3.5
GPA. I managed my time efficiently by completing over 100 service hours while doing school
work. In addition to that, I was successful in maintaining an almost to perfect attendance. I
believe that attendance is a necessary skill to maintain when being considered for a job or
attending school.

My volunteer roles in community service range from packaging food at St. Mary’s to serving
food at St. Vincent de Paul. Through these community service outreaches, it allowed me to
develop strong communicational skills, time management, and an overall hands-on experience
with a variety of people.

It is important that all employees are aware of the 21st Century Workplace Skills. As a freshman
in college, I have been able to obtain technological skills such as becoming proficient in
Microsoft applications and educational management systems like Canvas and Blackboard.
Technology literacy is the future of all professions and I believe that I have obtained those skills.
In a course at Arizona State University, I had the opportunity to create a website about a topic I
am passionate about and it is called Exploring Arizona.

I would be more than glad to further discuss the qualities that I carry as an individual. I would
also like to discuss more the values that I obtain that can be a valuable asset to your team. As a
current ASU student, I also possess time-management skills as well as the opportunity to give
positivity at JC Penney. Feel free to contact me anytime at 602-363-7544 to schedule an
interview to further discuss my background and interests. Thank you for your consideration, and
I look forwards to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Serenity K. Tabaha
