Narrative Report

We went early to school since the call time is 4:00 AM in the morning. We departed later
than the scheduled time because we’ve waited for others to arrive. Sir Avelino told us that our first
itinerary for the first day was La Mesa Eco Park to be followed by Philippine Institute of
Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). As we arrived in the Eco Park our tour guide told us
to roam around until the given time. I didn’t enjoy roaming around due to the fact that we are not
allowed to go close to the Lamesa Dam and also the weather is hot and humid. I am expecting that
they will tour us close to the site and someone will explain what is happening right now on the
dam, but it did not happen.

Our second itinerary for that day was the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology (PHIVOLCS). I am glad that they are able to explain everything that we need to know
about the earthquake and what should we do as a future engineer in terms of designing a building
that can resist strong earthquakes. They have given us some free time to roam around and we’re
able to saw their dioramas of different volcanoes here in the Philippines. They also have collections
of different debris of lava from past volcanic eruptions. After that we checked in at Bay View
Hotel where we are going to spend our night then we went to Mall of Asia to eat dinner.

The next day we woke up early and ate our breakfast. Then we proceed to our next
destination, the DuraStress Corporation which is located at Angeles City, Pampanga. In DuraStress
Corporation they are manufacturing and selling precast concrete products such as piles, girders,
beams etc. When we arrived, we are gathered inside a room, where one of their engineers explained
to us the history of the company, the product they produce and also how it is made and transported.
He also showed us some of their projects, and one of those is the MOA Arena. After that, we went
to their site with the guide of their engineers. They toured us around and showed us their equipment
and how their product is made.

Our last itinerary was the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, located at Bagac, Bataan. We
stayed here overnight and went home the next day. We took rest after we arrived then we go for a
swim and used the time to bond with our classmates. The next day we ate our breakfast early in
the morning. After eating, the tour guide gathered us, and we went to different houses as part of
our stay. She explained the history of every house we visit. I learned that during the early times'
people are not allowed to bring their slippers/shoes inside the house. They need to leave it below
the stairs. We are given free time to roam around to take pictures and buy pasalubongs.

The experience was great but since the objective of this tour was for us to be exposed to
the workplace in our field especially in steel and timber design, I’m not really satisfied. I am
expecting that we will go to Steel Asia but unfortunately, they backed out. But I guess it’s part of
our lives that not everything will go smoothly according to the plan. Anyway, I’m thanking our
professors and Sir Avelino for letting us experience this tour.
