Full P&L responsibility for Linde UK and South Africa with a combined turnover of £330 million
and 1700 people. Responsible for new equipment sales, contract hire, leasing, used equipment, rental
and aftersales service.

KION Group Sept 07 to present


£6 billion revenue forklift truck manufacturer. The business was bought by KKR and Goldman Sachs
in 2006 and floated on the German stock exchange in 2013.

March 14 to present – Managing Director / Commercial Operations Director, UK & South Africa,
Linde Material Handling.

In March 2014 I was given full P&L responsibility for Linde South Africa, in addition to my Linde
UK responsibilities, with the primary objectives of turning around and growing an unprofitable and
inefficient business.

- Complete restructure of the South African leadership team.


- Developed new plan and processes for managing the South African business – including market
share growth, engineer and service efficiency, working capital and cash flow.
- Currently preparing business for an equity based strategic partnership to further improve the
business and address local BBB-EE challenges (Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment).

Sept 07 – Feb 14 - Sales and Marketing Director, Linde Material Handling UK

Full P&L responsibility for 9 individual businesses with a combined turnover of £290 million and
1400 people.

Substantial profit turnaround and efficiency improvement of the UK business – key highlights;

- Increased profitability (EBITA) from 2% return on sales (ROS) to 7.0% ROS.


- Increased UK market share from 19% to 24%.
- Improved central loss making contract management business by £10 million EBITA.
- Short Term Rental utilisation increased from 60% to 80%. The rental fleet is 10,000 units.
- Used trucks sales of 3500 units per annum, increasing profitable end user sales from 16% to 40%.
- Negotiated contracts with many large customers including Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, Co-Op, Coca
Cola, Premier Foods, Norbert Dentressangle (logistics), Travis Perkins (builders merchant).
- Created new, more effective organisational structure.
- Introduced Customer Panel concept – meeting with a group of customers twice a year to share
and adapt our plans to ensure we remain customer focussed in all we do.
- Nominated to lead a KION team on Leadership Culture – sponsored by the CEO of KION.
Unipart Nov 04 to July 07
£1 billion revenue automotive and logistics company.

Nov 05 – July 07 Marketing Director, Unipart Automotive (£450 million revenue)

Promoted to Marketing Director of Unipart Automotive after 12 months in the company. Responsible
for product, price, communication activity and also increasing revenue with a group of independent
garages under the soft franchise ‘Unipart Car Care Centres’.

- Increased Unipart Car Care Centres revenue by £10 million to £100million.


- Successfully integrated 50-person team from 3 merged trading companies.
- Introduced structured approach to improve product management discipline.
- Designed and implemented new brand positioning to unite the integration of 4 trading companies.
- Negotiated sponsorship contract for Leo and Greg Mansell, sons of Formula 1 racing driver Nigel
Mansell.

Nov 04 – Oct 05 Marketing Director, Mechanical Repair Division (£300 million revenue)
- Restructured product and pricing team to increase focus and revenue generation.
- Developed Unipart Group Vision as part of 7-person CEO led team.

General Electric (GE) Nov 98 to Oct 04 - including 5 years living in Holland


$130 billion US conglomerate

Worked for GE Capital within different equipment management businesses including cars, vans,
commercial vehicles and trucks.

Promoted 3 times in 6 years and CEO nominated for 2 leadership courses.

May 03 – Oct 04 UK Sales Director. GE Fleet Services (£160 million revenue)


- Increased national account sales through focus on new business generation.
- Up-graded 24-person sales team, following GE’s rigorous HR process.
- Implemented Sales Force Effectiveness disciplines.

July 02 – April 03 Director, Sales Force Effectiveness. GE EEM (£900 million revenue)
This role focussed on standardising and improving sales processes for 3 merged GE companies. I was
nominated to participate in a GE benchmarking project investigating the best sales led companies in
Europe, visting and interviewing companies including Oracle and Airbus.

- Set up and established Pan European Account sales team - responsible for £50million sales.
- Increased Pan European Account sales by 14%, adding £7 million revenue.
- Responsible for all marketing activities – product, price, communication.
