1. Warm-up (10 mins)

Work in group
There are 4 pictures.

•People in these pictures are roommates.


• They are having some problems.
• What is happening in each picture.
Now, discuss in your group to find out.
4 minutes to discuss.
Anyone is living with roommates, raise your hands. Have you ever
experienced these situations?

Do you prefer to ​live alone ​or ​with other people​? Why? Talk to your
group in 2 minutes​.
2. Conversation
a. Listen and read.
- T plays the audio the first time, asks Ss to close their books.
Answer: What is the conversation about?
- T plays the audio once again, asks Ss to open their books, read
along with the speaker. Try to imitate their pronunciation, word
stress, intonation.
- Listen and repeat after me.
b. Language box
- T asks:
- Look at the conversation. Can you find the sentences that the speaker is
making a request? … asking for permission?
- Listen to the info in the language box
- T asks a S to read.

- T ask Ss to give example.


+ You feel cold. Your friend is sitting next to the air conditioner.
What would you say to him?
+ You feel too cold. You want to turn off the air conditioner.
What would you say so that your friends allow you to?
Review:
Making requests: Ask someone to do something for you.
Asking for permission: ask someone to allow you to do something.
c. Practice the conversation. (Production)
Produce their own conversation.
d. Vocabulary
Game
T shows the picture. Ss compete in groups
T hands over cue cards.
Ss raise the cards. The faster group raises the correct answer -> win 1 point.
T shows the answers.
T asks Ss to read phrases.
T elicit Ss’ memory of collocations by pictures.
