1 Design UASB system for the following data:

Design flow = 2500 m3/d; Influent COD = 1500 mg/L; Effluent COD desired = 300 mg/L;

2 On-site sewage treatment plant is to be designed for an apartment with 250 residents.

Apartment is located in Sangli.

Raw wastewater characteristics are as below:

BOD5 (mg/L) = 175 mg/L; TKN = 100 mg/L;

Treated effluent is to be used for flushing and gardening.

i. Suggest an appropriate on-site treatment system along with justification.

ii. Design all the treatment units of the suggested on-site treatment system.

iii. Draw hydraulic flow diagram of the system. CO3
