Greeting from Caraga Region!

In line with the GO SOUTH Campaign, the following are what we believe to fit as the Top 3
Destinations and key signature event to be highlighted throughout the said campaign.

Cloud 9, Siargao Island

Situated in Town of General Luna in Siargao Island is Cloud 9. Back in the 1980s, the place was
named by an American travelling photographer after a chocolate bar “Cloud 9” which he enjoyed
eating in the place and because of the elated feeling the surfer’s experience when they get there.
Being the wave capital of the Philippines, it also regularly garners a spot on the top 10 surf sites
in the world. Asides from the surfing, everyone can also enjoy the white sandy beaches around
the area.

Britania Islands
One of Surigao del Sur’s hidden wonders are the Britania Islands located at the Municipality of
San Agustin. Composed of 24 islands and islets scattered all over Lianga Bay which is facing the
Pacific Ocean. Naked Island is one of the islands offers the fine white sand floating on top of the
sea. The largest among the rest is Boslon Island which gives a great stranded on an island feel
given its great beach and a jaw dropping scenery.

Tinuy-an Falls and Hinatuan Enchanted River

Hailed as the Niagra Falls of the Philippines, Tinuy-an Falls is located at Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
Though it is a lot smaller than the Niagra Falls, Tinuy-an charms its tourist by its close to nature
feel. It’s captivating green façade and fresh air makes you fall in love with the nature once again.
Tourist can go rafting in bamboo rafts and get closer. Taking a plunge in the waters is pure bliss
due to the crystal clear waters and the falls is more than welcome to give a therapeutic massage
to those who want to go close to it.

Another magnificent natural water destination is the Enchanted River of Hinatuan, Surigao del
Sur. Just looking at the crystal clear blue river from the top will mesmerize any tourist, and will
definitely render them breathless. It’s a saltwater river was deemed to be enchanted by the locals
because it is believed to be miraculous. It is around 80 feet deep and is barely long enough to be
considered a river, yet the flow attracts visitors around the world.

International Surfing Cup

Siargao being the surfing capital of the Philippines and is already known worldwide to be
one of the top surfing destinations, the International Surfing Cup is certainly one of the
most awaited event of Caraga Region. Now on its 24th year, The Provincial Government
of Surigao del Norte, celebrates the wonders of General Luna, Siargao Island by hosting
the Siargao Island International Surfing Cup tentatively this coming September 2018. To
date it has prevailed its status as the prime tourist magnet in the province. Surfing, as a
water-sport, has now gained more appreciation and recognition with its inclusion in the
most anticipated 2020 Olympics which will be conducted in Tokyo, Japan. The Provincial
Government highly anticipates that the Siargao International Surfing Cup competitors,
will also be seen dominating the Olympics’ surfing competition.
