Men’s Wear

Figure 1.1 and Table 1.1 shows the men’s wear 2D Layout and Luminaires installed. The
rectangular TBS 165 series recessed luminaire serves as general lighting. The small circular projector/
spotlight luminaire near the shelves which serves as an accent lighting to stress out the display product.
The circular downlight lamp serves to illuminate the counter.

Figure 1.2 and Figure 1.3 shows the 3-dimensional view of the layout. The furniture and textures
were taken from built-in catalog and from Archive3D.net. The designer chose to use a reflective marble
tile for 2 purposes: to show a classier look of the store and to reflect lights for a brighter surrounding. The
wall was chosen to be brick white to give a perception of a brighter surrounding. The color of the furniture,
wall, and floor were carefully chosen to be compatible and to be in-sync with each other. The ceiling height
is set to 3m high and the working plane is estimated to be 0.8m. The height of the working plane was
estimated based on the usual height of the display clothes.

Figure 1.4 shows the simulation of false color, isoline and value chart of the store. From the figure,
it can be said that the false color rendering of the store manifested a satisfactory result with almost
uniform coloring of the surrounding. A few exceptions would be the inner most part of the shelves were
light could not reach through. The Isoline simulation also shows a proportional distribution of lights were
the circle can only be found around the clothe display. The circle around the clothe display is due to the
light not being the same with the surroundings. The value chart diagram again shows a good almost
uniform value except in the inner most part of the shelf were the light cannot reach.

Figure 1.5 and Table 1.2 lists the standards for lighting a retail store. The required lux for the store
is 500 lux and the acquired average lux is 474 lux. The designer believes that the design failing to meet the
standard is due to the inner most part of the shelves were lights can not reach. Where in actual practice,
these parts cannot be lit up and if this assumption is considered, the acquired average lux might be able
to meet the 500-lux standard.

Jewelry Store

Figure 2.1 and 2.2 depicts the 2-dimensional layout and luminaires installed. The Recessed RS340B
circular lamp series serves as general lighting to illuminate the area and the spotlight ST320T series serves
to direct the attention to jewelry display.

Figure 2.2 and Figure 2.3 shows the 3-dimensional view of the jewelry store. The height of the
store is set to 3m high and the working plane is set to 0.8m. 0.8m is the height of the furniture in the
design. A brownish and gold texture were chosen to give a better perception that the store is a jewelry
store.

Figure 2.4 shows the false color, isoline and value chart simulation of the jewelry shop. The overall
simulation shows a good lighting design of the store. It can be seen that the values around the furniture
are higher, this this because of the spotlight fixed on the displays.
Figure 2.4 Jewelry Store False Color, Isolines, Value Chart Diagram

Figure 2.5 and Table 2.2 lists the standards and acquired lux for illuminating a jewelry shop. The
require lux to properly illuminate the store is 500 – 800 lux. On the other hand, the designer acquired an
average lux of 738 lux which is able to successfully meet the standards.

Child Care/Playground

The childcare or playground section requires good lighting for the safety of the children. Figure
3.1 and Table 3.1 shows the 2-dimensional floor and lighting layout of the playground. The designer used
a recessed TBS165 and a spotlight ST320T series lamp to illuminate the room. The chosen height for the
room is 3m which is seen sufficient for the size of the playpens. The working plane height is set to 0.8m
because this is the usual height of children playing for the said playground.

Figure 3.4 and Figure 3.5 shows the isoline, value chart and false color simulation of the playground. The
lux values distributed around the room is proportional. Though there is a portion of the playground
receiving a color green (337 – 478 lux) it can still be considered good for the said location.
Figure 3.4 Playground False Color, Isolines, Value Chart Diagram

Figure 3.5 and Table 3.2 lists the standard and acquired lux for playground. It can be seen that the
design has passed the minimum lighting standard with exactly 500 lux to illuminate the room.

Male Restroom

The male, female and small restroom will be discussed as one. Figure 4.1, Figure 5.1 and Figure
6.1 shows the 2-dimensional layout of the restrooms. The lighting of the restroom were designed to be
low in lumens and power yet be able to equally distribute light in the room.

Figure 4.2, Figure 5.2 and Figure 6.2 are the 3-dimensional layout of the restrooms. The tiles of
the floor and wall were taken into consideration and designed to be reflective to be able to transmit light
around the room resulting in a brighter surrounding. The height from floor to ceiling is 3m, while the
working plane is 0.8m. The working plane was adjusted so that it will match the urinal and sink.

Figure 4.2 Male Restroom Front View 3D Layout

Figure 4.3 Male Restroom Top View 3D Layout

The overall design of the restroom is great, leaving no space unlighted. The required lux for
restrooms is 200 lux. The acquired average lux for the male restroom is 300 lux, for the female restroom
is 244 lux, and for the small restroom is 213 lux.

Janitor’s Closet

The janitor’s closet is were the cleaning aid tools are stored. This room does not require much
illuminance. Figure 7.1 shows the 2-dimensional layout of the room. To properly illuminate the room, it
only took 3x RC 132V recessed luminaire to light the room.

Figure 7.2 shows the 3-dimensional layout of the janitor’s room. A white color for the wall was
chosen to give a bright room perception and to give an illusion that the room is larger. The height chosen
was 3m because this is as tall as the cleaning materials can get. The working plane level is set to 0.8m
because the materials would usually be picked up from the floor or at a lower shelf.
Figure 7.2 Janitor’s Closet 3D Layout

From Figure 7.3, it can be said that the room is properly illuminated with uniform distribution of
lights. The bluish color on the shelf is caused by the inner most part where it does not receive enough or
any light.

Figure 7.4 and Table 7.2 lists the standard and acquired lux levels for the room. Looking at the table, it can
be concluded that the design has successfully reach the required lux level of the room.
