My students are using the My Storybook mobile

Pedagogy
My students will be creating their very own story
using the My Storybook app to tell a descriptive
story about themselves or a member of their family.
I will show the students how to get to the iTunes
app store over the projector, as well as how to find
the My Storybook Maker app by typing it into their
search bar. Once downloaded, the students will not
have to create a login or password, only type in their
first name as the Author. They will then hit “Add a
Book”. I will tell them that they are to create a story
book about either themselves or a member of their
family. I will also reiterate the requirements of the
assignment:
-At least 5 pages in length
-Must have 3-4 pictures or drawings within their
book
-Must use at least 6 adjectives, or describing words
when referring to themselves or the family member
such as: happy, hilarious, silly, short, mean, loud,
cold, skinny, tall, etc. (Use their adjectives chart). My
storybook Maker allows kids to upload photos or
draw the person they are writing about. They can
also either, draw the words to the story or record
themselves reading what they already have written!

person the story is about, share something about
what makes the person happy or sad, something
they like do, their favorite things, or places they

finished reading. They will be split into group of 4,
where they will have to brainstorm or share their
opinions, agree or disagree, and settle on a final
answer on their interpretation of those aspects of a
story. The class will be issued their premade logins
and passwords for GroupMe and will join the group
they are told to join. I, the instructor, will be a
member of each and every group to make sure
everyone is being respectful and kind to one another
and is sharing. GroupMe is just like texting and you
can like or “heart” someone’s message, showing
agreeance. This will allow the kids to go back and
forth with one another about the characters, plot,
setting, etc. and like what they see or respond and
share a differing opinion. After all groups have come
to their final conclusions and interpretations of the
text, the class will begin a group discussion.
