Responsible retailer initiative of the year

Shortlisted:
Naturaplan – Natural right good- coop (Switzerland)
Basically, responsible retailer initiative means responsible and sustainable retailing which means
today’s responsible retailers go much further than simply following the law of the land, and their
commitment to their communities helps make their stores and the areas surrounding them safer,
cleaner, healthier and happier place to live, work and play.

The coop group headquartered in Switzerland and operates in the retail, wholesale and production
sector. Coop group operates store formats in the food, non-food and service sector. Coop is Europe’s
second largest cash & carry and wholesale supplies business.

Over 25 years ago coop had a vision that involved everyone having access to environment friendly
food. In 1993 partnership with Bio Suisse (which is the main organization of organic culture in
Switzerland. It notably manages the guidelines of the organic label “Bio Suisse”) coop launched the
organic own labeled brand Naturaplan.

They offer the biggest range of organic products in swiss retail. Also unique is the fact that virtually
the entire naturaplan range and majority of other organic products display the bio Suisse bud. With
around 3800 products over 1800 of which are naturaplan products and they are consistently growing
and being sustainable.

The benefit of naturaplan have also been confirmed by independent bodies as well. In a rating of
food labels by the WWF and other environmental organizations, naturaplan was awarded the
highest score and attained the highest grade.
