The story “My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant” by Jose Vargas is a very

interesting; the struggles, hard work and the motivation to overcome his situation as an

undocumented immigrant in the U.S. I really felt Vargas’s story because it somehow resembles

to what would happen if someone found out and get deported. I, also was an undocumented

immigrant and my mom would always make me lie about my status. I really like how Vargas

looked back in the beginning in the end of his story asking his mother through the phone what

really happened that August morning before he flew to the U.S. The emotional (sad) element

from Vargas brought to his story, you can really feel what he had went through. I also like how

after all the struggles and achievements he was still grateful for his family giving him the chance

for a better life.
