In the article “Fear of Deportation in the Dominican Republic”, by Edwidge Danticat

talks about two hundred and ten thousand Dominican of Haitian descent will become stateless

even if you were born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Dominicans that is a Haitian

descent that live in Dominican Republic will get deported back to Haiti.

Edwidge Danticat stated on September 23, 2013, the highest court in the Dominican

Republic ruled that people born after 1929 could only be granted citizenship if they had at least

one Dominican parent. The author talks about Deisy Toussaint who is Dominican and Haiti was

denied of a passport due to having a Haiti last name. She was rejected even though she served

her country and fought for discrimination. There were also act of violence to those who were

Haitian descent. This is called “Anti-Haitianismo” is oppression towards Haitians. This shows

discrimination, hatred and inhumane and racial divides is all over the world.
