A) Blending of Aggregates
The aggregate were blended with the following proportion to achive a smooth curve falling within the
specification. Details are shown in the attached " Aggregates Hot Bin Combine grading".
The best results is obtained by blending the aggregates with the following proporation :

Type of Aggregate / Bin No Percentage Used

HB ( 23mm-38mm ) 10
HB ( 19mm-23mm ) 10
HB ( 10mm-19mm ) 21

B) Composition of Design Mixture

The aggregates were sieved into various sizes and recombined into singles specimen according to proposed
gradation. These sample were then mixes with various percentage of bitumen content at
0.5 % increments. The mixture was fried by using hand fraying method at 150 °C to 160°C,
Temperature of mixture was control at 135°C and compacted by a 4.55kg mechanical auto compactor at 75
blows per sides.
The bulk specific gravity test will be performed as soon as the freshly compacted specimens have cooled to
room temperature. After the bulk specific gravity of the test specimens have been determined, the specimen
shall be then immersed in water at 60 °C ± 1 ° C for 30 to 40 minutes before the stability and flow test are
performed.
Details of the composition of design mixture at various bitumen content are shown below :
