This is completely a new experience for me. I got the opportunity to do my internship in the
Mohakhali branch of Social Islami Bank Ltd. On the very first day I was so excited and went to
the office at 9.15am. But I was unable to enter the office because no one knows me and office
time start at 10am. At last at 9.45, I entered the office. I was asked to report to the Operation
Manager Mr. Mohammad Rafi Uddin. I went there and they asked me to wait in the waiting area.
I had to wait there for around one and half hour. In the mean time I was thinking how will be the
work environment and how the senior officer will react. After around half an hour one man came
to me and took me to the AVP and Operation Manager Mohammad Rafi Uddin sir’s desk. I was
a little nervous when I was to his desk. He asked me about my educational background and
residence. Then I was taken to the Manager sir SAVP MD. Abdus Salam sir’s room. Here he
asked my educational background, my residence and also about my father’s occupation. Then I
got a very warm welcome two of the officers were NSU graduate. One of them is Officer Saleh
Mohammad Hasnat who is in General banking and another one is foreign exchange officer Md.
Rahat Iqbal. Hasnat vaia introduced me with everyone. Then I was given a chair to sit just beside
Hasnat vai’s desk. I was observing everyone. All of them were doing their works. After a while I
was given a file. I read the full file. It was about code of conducts, rules and procedures of the
organization. It gave me a brief idea about all the rules. I got early leave on the first day. At the
second day after coming to office again I sat just beside Hasnat vaia’s desk. I had a perception in
my mind that working in a bank will be a completely boring and I have to fill the account
opening form and input card number in excel all day long. But after coming to the corporate
marketing division my perception completely changed. Day by day I learned something about
account opening and inputting to the computer. The type of work is not boring at all. The first
week went without of any incidents as I was not assigned with any sort of responsibilities. I have
observed how the works are done and what the procedure of work is. I have also learned about
the chain of command of the organization. Thus the first week of my internship program went on
in a little boring manner.
