 Lack of funds.
 Waste is dumped on the streets.
 There are no controlled sanitary landfill sites. Opening burning is common.
 Citizens are not aware of waste disposal and resulting environmental and public health
problems.
 Truck drivers misleading by throwing the waste in any open area, not at the specified site.
 Fuel theft, by doing rest at any place and selling the fuel from the truck, which showed that
they had done their work.
 Local collectors for the collection of garbage can be absent as there is no check and balance.
 Illegal dumping from private waste companies.
 Disturbance of smell to the nearby areas from the area of collecting waste.

Solution according to Ozpak

 Funds will never be enough, so burning has become an easy solution.

 The dumped waste on the streets is burned, if anyone complains that today the local
collector was absent.
 Improved landfill sites, with full mechanism to capture the methane gas and produce
electricity. There it solves landfill sites problem
 GPS tracker installed in every truck that collects waste which solved the fuel theft and
misleading of waste problem.
 Awareness creating programs are now run by different NGOs and the company itself.

 The garbage produced in Lahore can roughly be classified into two types so it can easily be
recycled:
1. Municipal solid waste
2. Persistent organic pollutants
 Avoid burning the waste.
 There should be three types of trash bin i.e. (plastic, paper, glass) at every corner of the
street for easy recycling.
 The collection from homes should be done under the supervision of the company by making
an application to track every sweeper.
 Proper training of employees (sweeper and collectors) should be done before they start
work, that what consequences you are going to face.
