LETTER OF REFERENCE

To whom it may concern,

I have the honour of recommending Katelyn Watson for your consideration. I met Katelyn in the
fall of 2018 when I was her professor in her education program. I also taught her in the spring
term of 2019 (Educational Psychology of Exceptional Learners). Additionally, I hired Katelyn to
be a science tutor for my daughter.

I was immediately impressed by Katelyn’s capacity and passion for learning about educational
psychology. She went beyond the expectations of my assignments to extend her own thinking
and internalize the content. I could see from the assignments that she has a marvelous work ethic
and a capable mind. In my opinion, Katelyn will make a fabulous educator.

My daughter has complex learning needs (cognitive, emotional, social, communicative) and it
takes a special person to support my daughter through her learning. Katelyn was more than up to
the task. Katelyn provided a robust and individualized program to help my daughter improve her
comprehension of grade 11 science content. But Katelyn did so much more than be a tutor for
my daughter. Katelyn also invested in her on a personal level. After the tutoring sessions,
Katelyn took some time to talk to my daughter. It was those shared moment together that my
daughter saw how caring and engaged Katelyn was in her development. As the term went on, I
saw what really distinguishes her as an excellent educator: she is completely dedicated to her
students.

I see hundreds of teacher candidates every term so I do not say this lightly: Katelyn set herself
above the rest. She is the type of teacher that I would hope would teach my daughter because,
indeed, she has!

Warmly,

Dr. Jeffrey MacCormack
