    Dear Scholarship Committee:

    I am so very pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Deysi Lopez. I have had the
    honor to teach Deysi in 11th grade in American Studies and again this year in Chicano
    Studies. In that time I have seen Deysi develop as a collaborative, creative student. Deysi
    is a diligent worker who is always in class on time and paying attention. She always gets
    her work done to high levels. Deysi adds to class discussions and is a very insightful,
    thoughtful student.

    At New Tech High, students work in teams to complete projects in all subject areas. Deysi
    takes the responsibility to make sure that her team’s work is completed to high standards
    and on time. She is well liked by all her classmates, as she is an effective collaborator. She
    is creative and often works beyond the parameters of the project.

    This year in Chicano Studies, Deysi wrote a beautiful poetry analysis on “Tonight I Can Almost
    Hear the Singing” by Silvia Curbelo. Deysi brings personal insights into her interpretation of the
    poem and imbues the essay with a profound understanding. Deysi also recited this poem for
    Poetry Out Loud. Public speaking is not easy for a soft-spoken introvert like Deysi, but she rose
    to the occasion, nailing the recitation.

    I hope you will give Deysi your highest consideration. I know that she will be a successful
    college student because of her strong work ethic. At New Tech we are very proud of what
    Deysi has accomplished and look forward to watching her meet her next goals.
