Student Strengths

Marina’s positive nature is very much appreciated in our class. She is a very kind student
who is dedicated to doing her best at school. She has a warm personality that constantly
lights up the classroom. She strives to finish her work neatly and to the best of her ability.
Marina can demonstrate a clear understanding of how to write and explain fractions with
pictures. Throughout our fraction’s unit, she has a shown a proficient understanding of the
difference between mixed numbers and improper fractions. She has also done well in areas
of math with showing how to order decimals, add, and subtract decimals. In our social
studies unit, she showed a thorough understanding of chinook salmon characteristics, food
chain, and habitat. She went above and beyond the criteria for the mind map, and it was
great to see her excel in this area. Marina can clearly demonstrate her understanding of how
to write a descriptive paragraph. She was able to voice her own personal opinion based on
the events from the story. Marina works respectfully and constructively with others to
achieve common goals in the class (social studies group work) and demonstrates respect for
differences in the classroom. She often demonstrates leadership skills through collaborative
activities.

Areas for Improvement

Marina at times struggles to get started right away with her math work. Marina would
benefit from practicing three-digit addition and subtraction with a focus on regrouping.

Ways to Support Learning

A great game for her to practice with is “Race to 100. Below is a link to a great math website
that Marina can locate worksheets for to practice her math skills.
