CEIT 319 - Instructional Technology and Material Development Reflection

We have chosen the “Animal” as our unit because we think that it is a topic which is very

common and children can see the animals everywhere. Moreover, we could find a lot of different

idea related to the animals such as animal’s foods, homes and their changes.

When we started to do our website, firstly, we started to think about activities that we

can prepare about animals. We found many ideas about the topic, and as we have three week, we

chose three of the ideas. Then, we improved our ideas and we formed our activities. After

deciding the activities, we have chosen the tools that we can integrate into these activities. We

have used Prezi, GOConqr, Pictochart, Google Form and Weebly. We have used these tools for

several purposes. For example, we used Prezi to teach the animals and their foods.

We tried to create our activity as a child-centered activity. Therefore, we added questions

to our lesson plans. In addition, we used Google Form to measure the children’s knowledge.

Thus, we can see the effectiveness of the activity.

We have tried to consider all phases of the ASSURE model while creating our plans

about the animals. For the ANALYZE LEARNERS phase, we identified the students. While

identifying the students, we focused on their age, developmental stages and their background

knowledge about the animal concept. For the STATE STANDARDS AND OBJECTIVES

Phase, we have determined the objectives for our activities. For the

SELECT STRATEGIES, TEACHNOLOGY, MEDIA AND MATERIALS phase, we have decided on

what kind of strategies and technologies that we can use while implementing our activities and

giving the animal concept. We chose our strategies and materials according to children’s age and

sufficiency. For the UTILIZE TECHNOLOGY, MEDIA AND MATERIALS phase, we used the
tools which we learned during the semester. We prepared the tools to apply our activity being a

child-centered. For the REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION

Phase, we tried to support children’s learning by providing necessary technology and media.

Moreover, we tried to create to make our tools affective so that children can want to participate

the activities. For the EVALUATE AND REVISE phase we planned what kind of assessment we

can use. We decided to learn Google Form and handouts. Also, we asked assessment questions.
