Tablets in Place of Waiters

Customer service is a critical topic in business, for no venture can succeed without

customer satisfaction. In my work domain, at restaurants, customer service is rule number 1 and

it says: “Customer is always right “. So, in order to reach this satisfaction all restaurants need

waiters to give customers an exceptional experience, and by that I’m being against replacing

waiters with tablets as they started doing in the US. When you go out to eat at any restaurant

don’t tell me that you can order your food on a tablet and stay till the end without needing

anything. Of course, you’ll need a cup for example, a new clean plate, a straw, maybe a sauce

etc... so anything you’ll need during your visit can be handled and get by the waiter. And

eventually, waiters are more helpful than tablets, plus they give you what tablets can’t give you:

customer service.

Customer service is vital because the responsibility held by waiters to give customer

value is very big. Waiters are the image of the whole company and they are a very big

percentage of the reason why a customer stays loyal to the restaurant. From my experience I can

tell that I have my own customers who come and sit in my section just because I’m their waiter

and that’s all because I gave them once an excellent service and an exceptional experience. So,

by that I gained for the company some loyal customers who will always buy its products and

that’s why customer service has a big importance today and by canceling waiters, customer

service is gone. If restaurants change to automated places, there will be no job vacancies for

students like us who seeks to work in order to pay education fees. This waiter position is the

easiest to get because it requires nothing and of course none of us can work and earn money at

early ages of 17 18 in any domain because all domains requires specific degrees for a person to

have. So, if this job is eliminated, there will be a great number of students who can’t complete

their education because they don’t have money enough and don’t have a job to earn the amount

of money needed. Customer service is the main and the most important factor in every business

in the whole world today because customers are the key to success and profits and most critically

in hospitality domains such as restaurants. Waiters should not be replaced with tablets for many

main reasons, as we said waiters are more helpful, they give customer value and great service

which means great profits for companies and this job is a path for every ambitious student to

gain education plus experience for his future career.

Here are some of the main benefits of Tablet adaptation in restaurants. Orders/Kitchen

Order Tickets (KOTs) can be processed more quickly resulting in better customer experience. It is

seen that anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes can be saved on processing every order. Customers
