    WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?
    It’s been a week of beginnings…

    Our classroom collected cans
    This week in math we began working
    for the food drive. Thank you
    in Unit 3 which focuses on addition and
    fifth graders and families!!

    We have focused on place value and equalities
    and inequalities in decimal numbers.
    This week we began working on our
    new Unit of Inquiry, titled Civil Struggles. We
    have already had some very interesting class
    discussions about concepts including
    “struggles”, “conflict”, and “perspectives”. We
    discussed the women’s suffrage movement.
    Did you know that November 2nd was the 90th
    anniversary of women voting in America? We

    also worked with our Social Studies curriculum
    to learn about the causes of the Civil War.
    Next week, we will find out more about what
    happened during the Civil War.
