Week of 10/22

Thank you to the parents that came in for conferences. We know
there were limited spots. If you would still like a conference please
contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
Thank you to Mrs. Geoffrey and Ms. Keough for leading SBS in the
Living Rosary in the church yesterday morning. Each class was
represented with four student volunteers who led the
Kindergarten-Grade 8 students through the Luminous Mysteries.

Please make sure that permission slips for The Lion, “The Witch
and the Wardrobe” at St. Paul Catholic High School are returned
with $12 as soon as possible.
The kids had a wonderful time at the Boston Museum of Science.

This week in 6th grade science we made
models of Earth and used them to learn
about faults and the mountain building
process. In 7th grade science finished up
learning about cell organelles with our cell
analogy projects. Our 3D Cell Models are
due to school on Monday with a data table.
In 8th grade science we finished up our 3D
Box on the five States of Matter. Our Unit
1 Test and Study Guide will be on
November 10th .

- 6th Graders learned about the first early
civilizations and agricultural based societies.
They will have a quiz on Tuesday.
- 7th Graders have finished up with their
Medieval Europe learning stations. They will
have a test on Thursday on what they learned
at the stations. Students will be handing in their
station packets for a test grade on the day of
the test.
- 8th grade took a quiz on Jacksonian
Democracy and will begin to student how the
country moved across the continent. We also
had a lesson on study habits and strategies.
. 7th Grade: Within Literature, students have
Grade 6 took a quiz on infinitives, and did very
well overall. They will be starting a unit on
adjectives.
Grade 7 is finishing up a lesson on question
words. Next week, they will begin studying the
verb tener.
Grade 8 finished up a lesson on family
member and celebration vocabulary. All did
well on the quiz. They will be starting a lesson
on irregular verbs.
Students had a great time on the field trip to the
Boston Museum of Science. They did a great
job of listening to the presentations, as well as
displaying our motto of “Love one another” by
being courteous and respectful.
Literature:
8th grade took a quiz on “The Lottery”. Look for the grades on
educonnect by the end of the weekend. Next week we will
start “The List”. I’m very impressed with how hard the class
worked on understanding the irony and complicated symbolism
in this story.
7th grade has finished their study of “Al Capone Does My
Shirts” and will start “Esperanza Rising this week”. Look for
the grades for their final quiz of the book by the end of the
weekend on educonnect.
Language Arts: Students have finished their personal
narratives/ personal statements and will be starting a new
essay next week. The new essay is a research essay in which
they will discuss New Evangelism. 8th graders will be able to
submit an edited version of their essay to the Knights of
Columbus essay contest at the end of the month for a cash
prize.

students have finished their Final Drafts of their
Personal Narratives.
6th Grade: Within Literature, students have
finished reading and completed their review
questions for chapters 20-23 and will finish
reading the Tuck Everlasting next week. Within
Language Arts, 6th grade students have
completed their Final Drafts of their Personal
Narratives.
Please make sure to hand in the permission slip
and payment ($12) for the trip to see The Lion,
the Witch and the Wardrobe at St. Paul’s on
November 9. There are a few students who have
not yet submitted it. Dress code for this trip is
regular school uniforms.
If students need help with personal statements
for applications, Ms. Seidl is available on
Thursdays from 3:30-4:00 to help.
Students should be turning in their yearbook
quotes to Ms. Seidl and their Diploma names to
Mrs. Carroll ASAP. Yearbook quotes can be
turned in on the LA google classroom.
