Abstract :

 Ngaben is a traditional funeral or cremation from Balinese people. Balinese believe that when a
person dies, that person must immediately return to 5 human constituent elements, namely, or
commonly called Panca Maha Bhuta, which includes solid, liquid, fire, gas, and ether elements,
because pengabenan contains all necessary elements hence symbolically ngaben returns the body
to these 5 elements.

“BANTEN” NGABEN
PREPARATION
Description :
• “Banten” same as a tribute or things that Balinese should be offer to the God, Ancestor with
some special preparation needed.
Technique :
• 1. Framing

Strength :
• Good angle can see a lot of object
• An object that looks perfect due to the right moment

Weakness :
• Too lot of white colors that can make dazzled

‘CARU’ OUR ANOTHER OFFERINGS
Description :
• “Caru” also a part of Banten that we used to offerings as symbolism for Bhuta Kala

Technique :
• Eagle Eye

Strength :
• Good angle from above that can display all of the part of “Caru”
• For me had a good focused

Weakness :
• If there’s little bit of light it can looks good.
Description :
• Balinese Hinduism have a Priest who called Pedanda as a Highest Priest., Pemangku as a
Middle Priest.

Strength :
• Good moment where 2 priest caught 1 shoot like said “Together we Can”

Weakness :
• Moment when someone behind the priests doesn’t look good for me
• There’s little bit of light

Description :
• After roundly walk between caru, now should be prepared the banten.

• It still dazzled me because a lot of white colors

Description :
• Balinese believe if we prays, we’re not only pray to the god, but our ancestor too as our daily
guardian

Strength :
• If we edit this on the brightness and shadow it would be a great photo

Weakness :
• For me it too contrast between above and below if took a lot editing on brightness and shadow

Description :
• As a said there’s a middle level of priest, usually they were asking a permission to the
ancestor and God

Description :
There is a man playing flute for all religion ceremony, and this picture express the feeling of

• Because this is a mass ngaben, there’s no need to use a Bade or Lembu

Description :
• It’s like soul of the someone had passed away and it represent Their soul and let it
come through to the thing’s that their family bring it

Description :
• For the last offer for the one who passed, traditional dance should be the last offering

Description :
• dance cannot be separated from the Balinese tradition, so
the Topeng dance will be the second offering

Description :
• Because this is a mass cremation, only a symbolic for the because the body of the
person passed away had been buried.

Description :
• when it has been released at sea it will be time to prepare to bring ash as a symbolic
procession to the temple so we believe that they will stay on our Merajan or temple and
also Besakih Temple
