child.

previous topic? None so far teacher.
Okay, then let’s proceed.
Our new Lesson is somewhat related with

Vocations of the Catholic Church. Everyone,
please read first our objective for this lesson.
At the end of the lesson the
students can:
a. define vocation ;
b. appreciate each vocation by
living a life of faith;
c. make a jingle which expresses
the idea about vocation and
perform it in front.
E. Lesson Proper
Now class, talking about vocations, what is
your understanding about the word
“vocation”?
Yes Rupert?
Ma’am, for me, vocation is a calling
or God’s calling.
Brilliant idea Rupert!
What do you think is the reason why there is
God’s calling?
For me ma’am, there is God’s calling
because God wants us to be with
Him in every step of our way,
Ma’am.

Amazing idea! To have broader idea about

the definition of vocation, girls, kindly read
the following.

the Latin word ‘vocare’ which
means ‘to call’. Vocation, then, is

calling? Or is there a point in your life in
which you can say that God is calling you?
Yes, Gilbert!

Yes ma’am, I’ve experienced that

God is calling me especially when I
am alone, I can really feel His
presence. There is something within
me that I can’t understand, but all I
can say is that, I am experiencing
that kind of unexplainable feeling
That’s right Gilbert, there are variety of because God’s presence is within

significantly say that God is calling us and one
of those experiences is that of what you are
experiencing right now. Vocation is
something that is unplanned, it does appear
at any moment of time, and when someone
experienced this, he/she will seek something
that could answer the questions that comes
out into his/her mind.

God's first call for every person is to simply

follow Him. You were created to be in
relationship with God, and that is His greatest
desire for you.

As your relationship with God grows, He will

continue to draw you deeper into this
relationship, and call you to become more
like Christ, to love Him more, and to love
others through service. In all these things, you
will experience God calling you to a particular
vocation.
Who among you here can enumerate the four
vocations of the Catholic church? Anyone?

Yes, Rupert!

Ok thank you.

The Catholic Church recognizes four

vocations: Priesthood, Religious Life,
Marriage and Single Life. God calls everyone
to follow Him.

Here is a brief outline of the four vocations,

kindly read boys.

Priesthood

for serious things. A calling serves as a
blessing, why? Because God knows that you
can do something to serve Him more than
what you have expected.

Girls, kindly read the next vocation?

Religious Life

A religious priest, brother or sister

Marriage

A married person lives a vow of

faithful love to a spouse through the
sacrament of marriage. Husbands
and wives share a self-giving, love-
giving and life-giving relationship
with their spouse, and are
committed to helping their spouse
grow to human and Christian
maturity. They seek to form a family

because it is one of the biggest responsibility
a person must have to deal with.

Girls, please read the definition of the last

vocation.

Single Life

A person called to single life comes

to believe that remaining single is
the true and right way to faithfully
live his or her baptismal call. Single

What do think is the reason why becoming
single is also a vocation?
Yes, Trixie!

Thank you for that idea! I think it is also considered as

vocation because you choose to

relationship with God. The Church recognizes
that each vocation is equal in the sense that
no vocation is better or less than any other.
However, because God calls you to a
particular vocation - whether marriage,
priesthood, religious life or single life - that
vocation is the best one for you, and the one
that will 'fit' you best and make you the most
happy.

F. Application

idea about “Vocation”. Each group must

IV. GENERALIZATION:
Class, did you understand our lesson for today? Yes, Ma’am!
Again, who can give any idea about vocation?
Yes, Dia!
The word “Vocation “comes from
the Latin word ‘vocare’ which
means ‘to call’. Vocation, then, is
about a call or a calling in
people’s lives.
Which among the four vocations you think you
suited? Why?
Yes, Gella! I think I am capable of becoming
a priest ma’am because I found
my interest in doing Church
related activities.

Wow, thank you Gella!

In what way you can show that you respond to

God’s call? I can show that I respond to God’s
Yes, Ryan! call ma’am by simply being faithful.

Okay, very well said! You may now seat Ryan. (Students are listening).
I have prepared an activity which is called 3-2-1.
In your activity sheet, fill in the 3 things you learned, 2
things that caught your interest, and 1 thing that was
not clear to you. Do this in 3 minutes.

(The students do the activity).

V. VALUING
Can you now conclude that responding to God’s
call is a good attitude? Why? It is a good attitude ma’am
Yes, Jansen! because in this way, you allow God
to control your life and your
decisions.

Very good!

In short, we must put into practice the value of

faithfulness towards ourselves and to others. This is
because a vocation is more than an ordinary call. A
vocation is a call from God, and anyone who has felt
God's call knows that the process is anything but
simple. While most people think of a vocation as what
they are called to do in life, it is important to
understand that the first and most important call from
God is a call to be - the universal call to holiness.
