Design Conditions
 Design conditions define:
 • Pressures
 • Temperatures
 • Wind
 • Earthquake
Power piping systems shall be designed for the most severe condition of coincident
pressure, temperature and loading.
The most severe condition:
Results in the greatest required pipe wall thickness and the highest flange-Valve
rating
Part (2) Allowances

 Corrosion\ Erosion Allowances.

 Threading Or Grooving Allowances.
 Bending Allowances.
 Mechanical strength allowances.
Corrosion or Erosion Allowances

The value of the corrosion\ erosion

allowances depends mainly upon:
- Pipe Material.
- Service (contained fluid chemical
properties)
- Pipe life time.
- Internal and external pipe insulation
Threading and Grooving Allowances.
Bending Allowances:
Mechanical Strength Allowances

-Min. wall thickness should be sufficient to

prevent damage , collapse, excessive
sag or buckling of pipe due to
superimposed loads.
